Hey, all. It's been a while, but in my absence I haven't been entirely idle, and have managed to get a few 'bashes done (including several that I started on years ago, stashed away, found again and finished ). But for now, a more recent one. This is actually the second time I've attempted a Mindset 'bash, the first being a rather unsuccessful attempt to mod an Energon Demolishor into a tank, but the less said about that, the better. HFTD Hailstorm is apparently supposed to be an homage to G2 Mindset, despite the colourscheme and head that look nothing like him. Having discovered Shapeways (as many of you seem to have), and keeping my G2 TPBs handy, I drafted up a head that I thought actually looked like Mindset and threw it in a file with a batch of other test prints. As luck would have it, I actually measured the ball joint correctly and it fit straight off. I generally leave the launchers on his back, since that's how Mindset had them mounted in the comics, but he can still pivot them up onto his shoulders if he wants to target them in robot mode. Then it's just a matter of repainting him. I've used Inscribe Forest Green and Sea Mist as the main colours (I didn't think the white in the comics would work very well), with Burgundy for the visor and Vallejo Gunmetal for stuff like the tracks. He still needs some touching up, as there are a few interior bit I've yet to get at, and points where it just keeps chipping no matter how many coats of Klear I put over it. I'm almost tempted to write it off as "battle damage".
