I very rarely get migraines but, I finally broke down and bought Excedrin today but I still feel lousy.

Its like the pain starts is from the top of my head, half of my face hurts, and the pain runs down my back.

So if any of you have any suggestions please don't be shy and share them with me.

I don't mean to whine, but it hurts.

    Thanks again.

I just take Excedrin, drink some soda and nap. It helps a lot.

    Migraines are awful...

Sure, but what's the actual physical effect on the head/brain?

Don't make me have to look it up!:D

Ugh. I know that feel, bro. Mine start behind my right eye and travel across the top of my head and down the back of my neck. Even with medicine they tend to ruin half of my day.

I always used some excedrin a cold compress and a dark room. A good friend of mine she suffers from frequent migraines has been treating them with regular accupuncture treatments and swears by this method. Her case is a little more extreme.

Try using a headband with a papertowel foldered up in the back right below the knott ont he back of your head.

I started doing this years ago and I don't need to take any pills for the pain anymore.

I know that feeling well, I get these things regularly at the moment (my wedding is coming up) and they just ruin my shit.

For me the ticket is a dark room, and sleep. Water, drink plenty of water.

I usually take 4 Aleve and drink caffeine. The BC powder isn't QUITE as good for me, but it's a pretty good choice too...

sometimes the area where the neck and shoulders meet could be too tense have someone massage it out if you don't have anyone stand with your back against the corner of the wall and move back and forth.
Also STRETCH! Sounds weird but it helps loosed up the muscles and allows blood flow back into the area to get rid of the nerve impulses that cause a migraine

Ugh...I hate migraines. I have symptom that kind of tells me that one is coming. I get some sort of blinding aura that scatters my vision on a certain part of my eye. It gradually works its way down the eye and you get tons of pain afterwards. But as soon as that happens, one should get a medicine straight away.

I have tried imitrex and did not like that stuff at all; I felt like I was was disconnected and watching myself work as if the body was on auto pilot.

Then there were the beta blocker, I hated those too.

What I have that has worked for me now is low dose of amytrptyline, I would have er guessed but I have been migraine free for about 2 years and it feels awesome.

There have been some good suggestions inthis thread but do not ever take more than 2 aleve at one time unless under doc's orders like I was cause that shit will fry both your kidneys.

Are you naseous? Sometimes in order to get rid of mine I had to pray to the porcelain god. Something about the rush of blood to the brain opens all the vessels and relieves the pain. Then sip some water and 2extra strength tylenol.

I'd love to know the exact physiology of these damned things. The extent to which they can cripple otherwise healthy human beings is astounding.

I started getting migraines when I got sick a few weeks ago. Found out that whatevers making me sick is also attacking my liver. So one of the things I can't take is tylenol because it affects the liver. They gave me other medicine but its not doing a damn thing. Pain and dizziness is so bad that I haven't been to work in a week. So I called the on call doctor today. She told me to take tylenol. Seriously!? That lady isn't worth the Kellogg's Cornflakes boxtop her degree is printed on today.
