No it's not news of a DVD release, but it's still pretty damn cool. Posted on Youtube is the 5 minute pilot animation for the series which was going to be called "Super Broots". The designs are very different, but have the same spirit... and the quality in the animation is beyond great.

That was awesome. I'm really glad they changed those designs, though. The girls in particular, were really creepy looking.

Just think what a wonderful extra this would make on a DVD release.

One of my favorite parts of the video is of Boo walking in the desert and her foot prints apearing in the tornado while she is invisible. To cool.

Proto-Crunch is particularly odd-looking to me, considering how drastically he was altered for the actual show. Also interesting that Bort went from having a toolbox and shapeshifting to essentially just shapeshifting.

You know, this makes me wonder at some of the tropes that are used in shows like this, despite an absolute lack of need for them. Rob has a secret identity. That's ridiculous. Rob protects nothing and no one by having it. It's as if it's vestigal.

I must admit though, what they settled on for a villain was an utterly fascinating concept that I don't think they ever tried to explore much. Umbra was a continent-sized organic computer crawling around the inner surface of a Dyson sphere...that is so high-concept it floors me.

Although I must admit, I get that sinking "chicks are an afterthought" feeling with Bo and Boo. Interesting array of powers, but their designs, colour schemes, and names are just so simple and share a generic sameness.

I their names refelct well with their chemistry since come off like a duo more so than the other bots.

Bort having his tounge stuck out is just as creepy as Bo and Boo's overbite.

True, but at least the robot team is split evenly along gender lines: three male (Tor, Bort, and Crunch) and three female (Bo, Boo, Ono).
