Ok, so, Gamefaqs is useless. I asked there because they have a board dedicated to xbox360. 80% of the posts were them telling me not to buy because it will break.

I don't believe that. I do however, want all your opinions on the matter.

Why should I get a 360?
What reasons do I have to wait? (LOL Pricedrop eventually!!) I don't want this answer, unless the price drop is next week or sooner.
Why should I avoid the 360, and make sweet love to my Wii all day?  

I already know what games I want.

Its a really good system. When it works. I got the 3 rings about 4 months after I bought it. I'm currently waiting for them to fix mine and send it back.

 

Dont get it now. Wait for it to be confirmed that all 360s currently shipping have been fixed to avoid any breaking problem. Microsoft has already acknowledged that there is a problem, next step is for them to fix the problem. Also, its starting to become LONG overdue for a price cut.

Also, everyone I know with a 360 has had problems with it. Most of them have had the thing just randomly break on them, the others had some problems with the disc drives.

 

Oh, I assure you, it WILL break.

but thats no reason not to get one. especially with microsoft extending all 360 warranties to 3 years if you register your system with them. I'm sure they'll get the system problems sorted out in three years, so by the time that extended warranty is up, you will have a problem-free 360.

get the 360. its a great system, has the best game lineup of all the new-gen consoles, and has tons of awesome games on the way. the ONLY reason I would advise anyone to wait is if they really want that Halo 3 special edition 360.

I just got mine about a month and a half ago and I love it i would say to get it. I know that probably by this time next summer it will break down but hey theres always hope that it will not!!

 

I myself am waiting. They're supposed to be fixing the internal designs and newer systems should be out this fall.

 

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Im'ma grab a 360 in a couple weeks; just need to work up the capital and have a couple questions myself:

- Normally, I'd pick something like this up from Bestbuy for their replacement plan, but with the recently revised 3 year warranty, should I even bother with a replacement plan?
- ...that in mind, does it matter where I pick up a 360, either?
- I'd planned on hooking the 360 up to my monitor; a Samsung 205bw, is this gonna be an adequate display device? I believe it can at least handle 720p.
- In lieu of finding an Elite (my plan), would I do as well to pick up a Core and a 120 gig drive, or hold out and continue trying to find an elite?

 

No, replacement plan is a waste of money.
Get it wherever you get the best deal.
720 is fine. Samsung is pretty good too. Don't really know the 205bw to know what it's capable of.
The core is crap. Get the Elite. You won't have to get the HD separately (which I haven't seen the 120 GB in stores yet), and you won't be stuck with a wired controller. And you won't have to pay extra to get the proper cables, unless you're gonna use VGA (get a cheap set on ebay). Also it's black, if you like that.

 

You should get the elite version. I wish they had offered it when I got my Premium when it first came out. Also, like others have said, you should get it for Rock Band alone. It looks awesome and will definitely be a killer game when it comes out. Also, you can't go wrong with Gears of War. Plus Resident Evil 5 is coming out for it which will definitely be a winner as always.

 

Hmm... I forgot about the elite!
It's not that much more than the step down.

I think I will get one of these when/if I get my 360.

But hey, the Xbox 360 ain't bad either. I will warn you, though. Many people who have an Xbox 360, tend to get the Red Ring of Death.

You can be as fanboy-ish as you want, but you know it's true. 360 has stellar graphics, the best game selection, and is affordable.

And it will have Rock Band.

For the record, I had a launch 360 that I sold to a friend and it has never had a single problem. Also, the Elite I purchased on it's launch day also has not had any problems. It's a great system and the Elite would be the way to go.

 

Ok. So, it's decided. I want an Elite!
Now for the hard part. Finding one....
