I've got no problem having my CC on live. In the event something goes wrong I know MS will fix it. This is good news for me as I'm tired of having to spend another $7 because I'm short ten points.
That one is flawed too. There is a 5 buck-minimum. Like I said before, it does consider your "change" when you buy something else, and it makes that extra cash disappear, but when you're buying an avatar or something cheap, it's still you spending more. It's the better of the consoles, but not as simple as Itunes. And you can get iTunes cards on discount as well, so that's not enticing enough of a reason to stay with points. I just want to spend a dollar on a game worth a dollar. Not 5, not 10. If I sell my Wii today, I will have given Nintendo 3 unspent bucks. It's not much, but if you factor how many people have that money sitting in their store account, Nintendo makes away with a buttload of cash that they never had to give product for.
Ooops, I missed that . Yes, it has that same level, but because the minimum is 5, you can still get a 6 bucks game for six bucks (not the next tier of 10 bucks, which Nintendo has on the 3DS), and when your fundings drop to 3 bucks, and you buy a 6 dollar game, you end up only paying 3 because it factors it in. Out of the 3, it's the only one where my balance remains at 0 the longest. But it's still not the way I'd go. Just simply paying for what something is worth, even if it's 99 cents. And in a way, it is more effective because I am more-likely to drop a dollar on a crappy little game, knowing that if it sux, I'm out a soda can. But I'm not going to take that risk with 5 bucks.
Right. So if this isn't a rumor, I hope it's more an adoption of Apple's deal. I'd rather give a buck, than 5. If they are "stealin' munehs" at least it's a lot less.
yeah, true. the sceptic in me thinks otherwise though, i'm sure microsoft wouldn't change something that has essentially worked for so long in that regard. i expect this to just be them changing all the numbers on the marketplace, literally replacing "400 points" with £5.
Possibly. My Live account has pennies in it, though. It's not nearly as bad. Not to rip on Nintendo, but since I have owned a Wii and 3DS, I have never had a balance of 0. The math just never works itself out that way...conveniently.
I buy albums instead of downloading songs from the Zune marketplace most of the time, so whatever. I hate how there's a difference between the amount you pay and the amount of points you receive anyway.
Bingo. That's the only reason i'm sad to hear this news, as i'm certainly not going to be able to find 20 dollars worth of points for 15 dollars any time I imagine. It's a lot easier to put things on sale when its silly numbers like 1600 etc.
The amount you save by purchasing something for its actual value, versus 200 points more (2 bucks), will probably more than compensate for that over time.
Yeah -no doubt. And I don't understand why people think they will never be able to find cards on sale. If there are sales now for 1600 point cards for $15 does that mean we will never see $20 cards for $15? I know that when Toys R Us and other places have sales for buy one get one free in the fourth quarter they don't care what you get as long as it's video game related. You could get $100 worth of cards for $50 then. I'm sure if the card says '$' instead of 'MS' the sale will still be valid.
I just want exact amounts for purchases. It's worked for centuries. The only ones that tiered purchases benefit is the actual seller, because they get extra cash for every purchase, and in order to make another equal-value purchase, you need to spend that entire amount again. But anyway, moot point. I'm glad MS is going this route. Hopefully their minimum purchase amount isn't too high.
I dont mind the points system but it was never very practical the way they had it layed out. having to spend $10 to get 800 points when only needing say 500 was always a stupid idea if they do phase them out I hope they atleast leave them as a physical option for those that dont want to give MS their CC numbers
