Skype Investors Will Reap a Windfall - WSJ.com I think this was really just to screw over sony. There were rumors Sony had plans to use it. Would have been so nice. I hope this doesn't mean no more free skype to skype calls. :/

hmm, i guess skype+kinnect would work nice. but i hope all the nice shit skype does isn't ruined here.
Here's my concern: Microsoft has a thing against Apple, and vice versa. They also have similar feelings to Sony, as competitors on the video game market. So, given Sony PSS has had Skype, and also Apple iirc has a Skype app, what's going to happen to those? Skype's great advantage was it's independency, so it was a way to connect regardless of hardware. With it now in Microsoft's hands, I wonder if they're going to forcefully remove Skype as an app from Apple users (or cut functionality so as to basically nuke it), given the two companies haven't been known for sharing software in the past. If its going to have an effect on Apple, I'm glad I didn't upgrade to the iPad 2 for the cameras (I realise FaceTime is an alternative), but I will have second thoughts about every buying Microsoft stuff again (and ive never ever even played an Xbox, let alone thought of buying one; I bought the PS3 over the 360, even though the difference was $1000 HKD). Eh, I just downloaded Skype onto my iPad which I'm typing this on, even though it doesn't even have a camera. Because keeping the wide distribution of Skype is something I like. Screw you, Microsoft.
Are you privy to Microsoft's plans for Skype? If you are, then please, by all means, share. If you're not then this entire post is just complete hysterics brought on by an irrational distrust of a corporation. It's like you purposefully ignored the fact that both Apple and Microsoft have software on their rival platforms.
It's just my concerns, that's all. I just see many of the programs i use being exclusive to one or the other, and hence i worry if this will soon join that list. I think that is a reasonable (and not uncommon) concern. Whether or not it will turn out to be true, only time will tell. I hope not, i'd rather be proven wrong, but...who knows?
I wonder if I'll still be able to cheat on AT&T with Skype for 3 bucks a month, and have better-quality phone calls for that price. Also, MS software has been available on Macs for a while now, due to demand, Office, etc etc. A lot of people use Skype for podcastin'. I'm betting the traditional use of skype will remain as is, but maybe some new functionality for Live will be implemented, using the familiar name.
LOLZ at scaremongering. Microsoft pays $8.5 billion to get thier hands on over 100 million users and people think that thier plan is to chase them all away with charging and platform restrictions?
