Maybe when trying to access their Live accounts they should get a big red stamp saying "ACCESS DENIED - FOREVER - YOU CHEATING LOSER!"

No, wait, that would be the Apple way to do things.

He doesnt care because the method of removing people is fundamentally flawed and he will simply create another account and go about his business. I have ex clanmates who hacked the ish out of Halo 2 and were banned multiple times, even when their eprom key was banned they just purchased a new one, or salvaged one from a broken system.

He didn't really hack, he used an exploit people have been using to get into other betas. You recover someones gamertag, go to their account info, and acess their download history. Since Betas act just like demos they don't have the DRM tied to them.

Also MS and/or Bungie have said that Live bans on 360 are tied to that system as well as the IP adress, making bannings more permanent. Granted those can be bipassed as you mentioned but the 360 costs considerably more and voiding its warranty isn't a great idea.

I say to Microsoft “Call down the rain!” I will be sad if Halo 3 gets as bad as 2 with the cheaters.

Hell yeah. Online multiplayer loses so much appeal when certain people gotta be dicks and cheat.

So true. I quit playing Metroid Prime: Hunters when people started using Action Replays to cheat. Bath turds.

That's an awesome ban. Hell, that could be a ban past the lifetime of the human species.

I think Halo 2 did a good job of matching up skill levels with the rank system, but I think you're rank should be a hidden number so no one can really brag that they're number 1. Might reduce the urge to cheat.

He could always freeze himself like Cartman and come back to in 9999. The world will have changed but maybe a few historians will still be playing Halo 3.

Halo 2 made leaps and bounds when it came down to cheating, I remember before the first update hit there were flying wraiths and instant kill battle rifles, and people with super speed, warthogs driving across the sky, instant headshots with the sniper rifle, wraiths in sanctuary... it was insane, oh and you cant forget the infamous standby either. AFTER the update however that became all but non existent and standby became harder to do and thus less commonplace. The only thing that really remained rampant was the one thing they really didnt have the ability to change, and thats the junction points in the architecture of the 3D mapping that allowed for super jumping... perhaps the most annoying and 'legal' type of cheating their is fun as hell on custom maps and annoying as all get out in a ranked match..... Anyway, im sure they have learned from their mistakes with 3 and knew for sure what to look for when it came to super jumping and the like... I guarantee someone will find a way to piss the rest of us off though its just a matter of time really.

And remember the ban isnt cool, it isnt effective, its inconvenient for sure but he can still just create another account there are dozens of ways around this. Even with the provisioning put in place for bans very few people actually stay banned and the worst of them are the ones who know enough to be dangerous. I had an aquaintance when the beta hit who was able to exploit it in such a way that he could play multiplayer custom, it started with him finding out he could access the custom options... he could access them but couldnt load a map ..after some tinkering he went beyond that and was easily able to load custom maps but they took 3-4 minutes to load... the amount of customization you can do now for custom games is utterly mind numbing.. there are very few aspects that you cant change.
