I thought it was already said that ILM was doing it though??
There is nothing wrong with a big time Director buying an F/X house. The mention of them working on TF:the movie is just speculation on the part of the reporter.
ok thought so, nice to know I'm not senile yet Well, if a different effects house has already been announced, then its not speculation on the part of the reporter, but ignorance of the issue weee!
True, but given the time constaints of this film and it's '07 deadline, it's not unheard of for a Director/Producer to farm out work to another company to meet said deadline.
Jackson did for LOTR.
Exactly. It's also a good investment for the sequels.
The Chronicles of Narnia was also done by two major effects company, one was Weta but I'm not sure about the other.
Considering how little post production time this movie is going to have if they want meet their release date, Multiple FX houses are just about going to be a requirement.
Weta Workshop provided costumes, props, and other things, but I don't think Weta Digital had anything to do with it. If they did, it was only minor. The majority of the visual effects were done by ILM, SPI, and Rhythm & Hues.
