I think you're thinking of Deep Impact, which came out the same year as Armageddon.

Not if they are well-told. The thing is, in this movie the very title of Peal Harbor calls for a story about the event that, to many, changed a war, and there were plenty of story elements to be told that it didn't need to depend on some random love story.

what I meant was I hate love stories in general, good or bad. so even if it was well-told, I'd still hate it.

Ah teenagers, you're so irrational and full of hate for things you don't like regardless of quality. I miss those years.

I happen to be 18 (which I believe is technically not a teenager anymore). Just because because I don't like love stories doesn't mean I'm a fuckin' teenager (no offense to any teenagers out there, I was one after all). I have a different taste, that's all.

eigh"teen" :)  Either way, a love story titled Pearl Harbor is what ruined it for me, in that previous movies with Pearl Harbor in the title were about the war, not a love story with the war as a backdrop.

    Um... eighteen. Teenager. :inquisiti :

Gotta agree with the point that Bay refuses to improve, and that that is supremely annoying.

Thank you for proving Ebert's comment on movie tastes and how they evolve as you age with three simple sentences. You should keep that statement for 6-10 years from now you won't believe that you wrote it. And yes, you're technically a teenager until you're twenty.

I meant the stereotypical teenager you'd see in a high school. besides, teenager or not, I will never like love stories, even if it means divorcing my future "chick flick" wife (which I hope never happens). and why do you have to fuckin' bring the whole ebert issue into this? i'm just saying I have no taste whatsoever with love stories, nothing to do with ebert there? not just love stories in movies, even literature. i.e. this is what I think of Shakespeare's romances=:puke:

If you can watch The Princess Bride and still say you don't like love stories, you officially have no soul.

look, when I say I don't like love stories, I mean in works of fiction. I still admire love stories in the "real world"

It's just that, I don't see a point for love stories in fiction, but that's just me

What you said doesn't seem to be any sort of reply to what we said.

I think you already did, but whatever. Logically, you should hate the Transformers movies too, because once you strip away the action, they are love stories. A robot loves a boy. A boy loves a girl.
