Hmm...two offers declined, and the listing ended...curious. Other than that ding on the box corner, it was a gorgeous piece.

For a MIB piece, how does it compare to other items in rarity and price? Black Zarak, Dinoking, Japanese Dino cassettes etc are difficult if not just plain expensive to acquire. For instance, how many MIB Grand Maximi are out there? just as a guess.

Well for one, it was a Japanese-only release. You know how much a Fort Max goes for, and that was released in both North America and Japan. So, cut those production numbers in half (just a rough estimate) and that's why the average price for one that's opened is around two grand.

Now, a MISB Grand Max...that is a rarity.

That's Singapore dollars too, I just noticed. So it would have been less in USD.

^ keebs, that was 5 years ago.

Things have been alot more different now. :p

There was another thread about Grand Maximus awhile back & I'd shared that we'd sold a complete & Unused piece (stickers unapplied) for USD $2,000 about 4 months back. (Ok, maybe USD $2,100 given that your Greens are weaker now)

For USD $2,400, I'll be looking at an Unused piece.

He got it in person in a shop, too. From what I've read, prices on G1 stuff in Japan are relatively cheaper than eBay. Granted, I'm not going to hop on a plane to get those cheaper prices. It's hard to imagine a store that has G1 Raiden giftset (like he purchased) just sitting out on a shelf along with Black Zarak and other rare headmasters.

It was pretty common back in those days & Sellers weren't asking for gold...

Nowadays when you're looking at vintage Japanese TFs, they just scream "You've to win the lottery to own me!" :lol

Item never showed. No tracking number. No communication. Just my luck. He's all about leaving notes in the feedback but doesn't email or send messages through eBay. Didn't post anything in the paypal dispute either. My money is finally refunded, now to find another MIB Grand Max.

not to be ball busting, but seriously you trusted $2000 plus to someone with feedback in the 20's and are surprised that the auction was not completed with you getting your item?

I would seriously have problems trusting anyone with feedback below a couple hundred with that $ amount...the factor for the other person not having the goods and doing a screw over job are just too great....

Mate, were you the actual person who won that auction? Or you're just talking about another piece/auction altogether? :sly:

Won the auction. It got relisted 'accidentally' afterward but then taken down. Claims to have tracking number that doesn't track the item.

Other peeps got their items: Menasor giftset, Black Zarak, etc. Apparently they got their items or are liars. Either way, he'll have a tougher time selling from now on, since he got tagged with a non-shipped item

So I see...Sad to hear this coming from you.

But thank God that you'd gotten your $$$ back so you can always try to look for another Grand Maximus. :)
