I guess this explains the absence of the Japanese audio on the US game.

Kojima probably did it on purpose. He's awesome like that.

"The space. Use all of it"
    "all of it, sir?"
    "ALLLLLLLLLLLLL OF IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT"

Here's the answer - 2 discs. It worked in the old days and it would work again.

yeah it's a sneaky PR way of saying the game is huge. "We used every KB on this game"

Wow. I remember when insanely playable games fitted in 32K of memory.

Yeah that's how I read it. Of course, others will see it a WHOLE different way. :)

Some company now has to released some insanely huge RPG that uses a good 4-7 disc's just to say they had to.

This reminds me of when the Neo Geo was out and developers would purposefully use no compression of any kind so they could advertise how big their games were.

I know that Konami (and maybe Sony) are trying a PR tactic, but the statement has me fearful that MGS4 is going to be like MGS2: 20% gameplay and 80% cinemas.

That is a slight exaggeration, but I honestly remember thinking I could sit down and play MGS2 for a half hour before I had to go to work or something and it was impossible to do because of all the cinemas.

All this tells me is that MGS4 is more bloated with cutscenes than anything that's ever come before it.

Yeah, you haven't been able to tell the length/content of a game by its size since the days of cartridges. If anything, a bigger size today means one of or more of the following: poor compression, tremendous amount of voiced dialogue, lots of movies (FMV or in-game, with in-game being related to voiced dialogue), teh ub3r grafix.

    Bluray loses. Bring on Holodisc!

Makes me fear (moreso >_>) the next Final Fantasy game. With space like this, it can only mean the watch:p lay ratio will be even more painful.

Bleh, I can only hope. FF12 didn't have enough! MGS4 is probably the 324 hours of dialogue on whatever comm. device is used.

I think you have your numbers wrong. This new metal gear will be 100hours of cinematics and 25.5 seconds, and 12 frames of gameplay.
