Decided to take a break from doing my Trypticon custom, which was in fact a break from doing my Rodimus Prime custom. I know this one has been done numerous ways, but here's my take on him, for now at least.

I started with Cybertron Metroplex, which I had previously turned into a Fort Max custom w/ minicon headmaster, but never shot photos of (didn't work out too well). I salvaged the face from the headmaster to create Metroplex's new head. The orignal piece was from a knock off Superion. The head is now on a ball joint and there's full rotation but limited up and down movement.

For his extra guns I used some misc pieces from a power rangers lot I got and also the big guns from Cybertron Optimus. I repainted these to look like buildings with lighted windows. They attach to his back via some legos I used up, which also become the handles when he holds them as guns.

In city mode the whole head can fold down. The big guns attach to his back for battle station mode.

I also tried to detail in little windows wherever I could on his chest and arms, and even his crotch (though I can't imagine who would be in there.)

I tried photoshopping the first few images b/c he's so big to photograph, he dwarfs my photo booth! After about 4 of these I gave up and just cropped images, so sorry for the poor backgrounds. I did include Trypticon (WIP) in one shot for size comparison. Should have a lot of fun battling with these two!

Overall I'm fairly pleased with him and glad I did the repaint. Looking forward to any comments!

This is so brilliant, and as best I can tell a completely original idea.

I agree! It helped bulk out the body and keep it from looking too lanky (which is pretty much how Cybertron Metroplex looked originally). Excellent work!

I'm stealing this idea. To think that I was going to sell mine. It looks great.

That's brilliant. Never would have thought of Cyb. Optimus' guns as towers...even though I did nearly the same thing! Great job. Nice work on the head too.

Man... a little repaint goes a long way... this bot looks like a GREAT CHUG update IMO.

Just curious... anyone know how big this Metroplex compares to his G1 self?
