I can't seem to find instructions on how to connect Silverbolt/Hot Spot/Onslaught/Motormaster to the big guys. I remember seeing pictures long ago but I don't have the links anymore. Can anyone help?

Now thats interesting. Metroplex's instruction only tell you that you can link on the combiner limbs to his robot mode shins and upper arms not that the base mode of Silverbolt and Hotspots repair bay mode can link to Metroplex in city mode.

Anyway for Trypticon www.botcollector.com has his instructions and it shows how to link the base modes of Onslaught and Motormaster to his city mode.

I knew about Metroplex combining w/ the leaders, but I had never heard that you can do that w/ Trypticon also. Makes sense since Metro and Tryp came out at the same time. More playability is always nice.

trypticon was an after thought, Metroplex actually can combine WITH ALL 4 base bots, leaving the wonder out there that all 4 were suposed to be on the same side, along with metroplex, and that there is a theory out there that they were all from an abandoned takara subline NOT intended for transformers, that was in design AS transformers were coming to light. There is a VERY VERY early prototype of superion using DIACLONE parts to combine, so it's definatly an old idea.

I have to say though, LEGO is better for those "build a base" kind of stuff. :)

Also have a question, why Trypticon cost nearly 2x -2.5x the price of Metroplex? Is it because he's rarer and motorized?

How much were the retail price for those two back in 1986?

Positive that Metroplex was $34.99 ... not sure about Trypticon.

Okay... typical that my Trypticon was loose without those connecting pegs. And I can't get the behind of my Hot Spot to fit on those tabs, it's an original 1986 piece as is Metroplex.

    :D

Here's a pic of Trypticon too, although Seawings is better. I just couldn't get a good angle on him. BTW Seawing, how did you get Metroplex's knee cap on with him combined with the jet? I can't seem to get it to work?

Sorry, can't help you. These pics are from my TF folder of cool stuff that I swiped off of other sites. I have never had the chance to combine Silverbolt and the others with Metroplex.

I had the same problem with mine but I just figured that it was because I was usning a KO. If I remember right there should be 2 tabs on the back of Hot Spot (?), I had to settle for having one in and one out to get him to fit right. (I didn't want to bust my Metroplex by forcing it.)

    PS

    Thanks anyway Seawing.

Yeah, reason A would be that Trypticon cost more (and came in a much larger box) than Metroplex back in the day, reason B would be that Trypticon has electronics (also links to reason A) and that thus preserving their ability to work over time leads to an increased value as many Trypticons out there have broken electronics and thus working ones are more rare.

OH, and here's a pic I have with some leaders attached to Metroplex. He essentially has 4 connections docks.

With the bit on Silverbolt's jet nose in the slot on Metroplex's leg, the kneecap will fit snugly over the top and actually helps hold everything together.

That just made me realize that when that KO Metrotitan comes out, I can attach Motormaster & Onslaught to him for an expanded base mode too. Awesome!

Thanks Draven, it just must be my knee cap then. It doesn't really want to snapt in place on the other side either and I didn't want to force it.

*hury up post man and bring the rest of my parts*
