How much was the cost of the show and hotel/travel fare? I live in NYC so if I wanted to go I think I could have gotten my hands on that piece and quite a few more from the con for less than what they're charging for that collection alone. Am I wrong or can someone confirm this as a decent price?

Well, that's how much they're going on eBay for as of now. I remember the used to be cheaper when alot of the auctions first hit eBay on the first day of Botcon. Now 600.00 seems to be it's going rate. However, I will never spend that much on toys.

not a ripoff. Considering what it is, thats the current going price. an item will cost whatever someone is willing to pay. and currenty thats what people are willing to pay.

Well, to get into the show, and get that set, would have been around $300. That doesn't include hotel/travel fare.

I bought a bagged set and broke it up for eBay and got almost that much. So the addition of the nice box and certificate would definately be able to make the difference.

I defended people selling their sets on Ebay, but it seems that TFSource bought up a handful of these to sell on their website. I am all for attendees buying an extra set of these to sell at a profit, but an online website doing this for this many seems a bit shady. Unless they bought them secondhand from BOTCON attendees, it's kinda dissappointing.

If people don't buy them, they stagnate and prices get lowered. Unfortunately, for us who want it cheaper, people are willing and able to buy.

I did consider selling my set to BBTS; however they were only offering online store credit, and I wanted to spend it AT Botcon. Plus after shipping to the UK I would have gottennext to nothing from them with the money.

Boy, am I glad I don't care for Classics. That is some expensive sh!t. Think of all the other Transformers you could buy with that money.

Hell, you could buy 6 MP Screamers and make you own fleet of MP Seekers vs Classics for that price.

Just wait a year or so, somebody in the fandom will sell their set cheaper because of:
    a. GETTING MARRIED, NEED MONEY FOR THE WEDDING.
    b. MOVING, WANT TO CLEAR SOME STUFF.
    c. GETTING OUT OF THE HOBBY, CAN'T AFFORD IT ANYMORE.
    d. HAVING KIDS, KIDS ARE EXPENSIVE.
    e. PERSONAL EMERGENCIES.
I've heard all kinds of excuses for selling stuff. Just read peoples auctions on ebay.

    Ebay:
2005's loose set didn't bring in that much on the secondary market. 2006's pre-Beast Wars did a little better...but I doubt next year's loose set will have the kind of impact and bring in as much money as it currently bringing in.

After seeing several loose sets go for $400-500 on eBay I too wished I had bought an extra set to sell and even thought about snagging a loose set next year...but what are the chances that'll bring in big bucks again?

If my tax return had come in a week earlier, I could've had the non-attendee set for $350... :(
