Not reposting the image here for the sake of it being a TCC forum thing (mods would tear it down anyway), but for people on the TCC forums, go there now for a turnaround sketch of Metalhawk's head.

    It's a human Pretender head :D

EDIT: And it looks like Pete just tweeted it, so it's okay to post here...

Makes sense if the color design is based upon his shell. Not what I expected but given the mold choice I can understand the decision to do so. Sorta wished Metalhawk was more designed/done based upon his robot mode.

Honestly, I'm LOVING this G1 Pretender throwback. We haven't had a human head on a Transformer since.....

Someone help me out - was that 2007 movie Leader Prime that guy won in Hasbro's contest sporting a human head, or a robot head based off the guy's human head?

Well I guess THAT'S why it's a Classics set, not WoH! That's gonna stand out on a shelf. :D

I'm really concerned as to how this will actually turn out. If Overlord and Soundwave are anything to go by, these BotCon heads are not coming out top-notch.

Man that might look pretty strange, but I guess I'll wait till the big pictures show up.

After seeing IDW's Metalhawk in DoOP I find myself very uninterested in generic person face.

Agreed. I doubt an organic-looking/human face will turn out well.

Well...I guess the stubbiness of Thunderwings torso matches the G1 Pretender shell proportions at least...

But doesn't the Joe club do human heads all the time?

I wasn't expecting them to go with the Pretender Shell look for the figure (especially since the robot form appeared in Timelines), but they freaking committed to it and went ALL the way. I have to give them props for that. I'm most intrigued by this guy now, though the majority of the set still doesn't have a "wow" factor for me.

That's because they don't have Pretenders in the IDW comics. The human head isn't Metalhawk's face; it's his Pretender face.

I'm not certain I can agree that it's a 'generic person face'. I'm a fan of Metalhawk from the Masterforce series and that face is actually strikingly similar to his animation model. I've not read the new comics with him so I'm not entirely certain how his new model looks.
I'm not certain I want to see this face done in flesh tones, given it'd be the only flesh tones on the toy, but I do find myself liking the sculpt itself.
    But to each their own^_^

It's almost kind of a little bit better than the animation model, imo, if we're being honest.

*looks at the image* Hmmmm, I may have to concede to you on that point ^_^
But in any case, to me at least, it's definitely based off his animation model.

That head is shaped kinda like Thunderwing's. Has it been confirmed that they'll be using that mold to make this figure??

EDIT: Nevermind just saw the other thread.

Yeah. Ironically, Hawk's face is probably the one thing on any of these figures that looks most like what it's supposed to be derived from.

Edit: Eep, you found/saw the post and edited your initial post while I was typing my response. Apologies

And sadly it's on the one mold that I have a strong 'Do not want' reaction to-despite ADORING the head mold (and loving the character). Only reason I have a Black Shadow is becuase my brother knows I love the chara and bought the toy for me as a surprise ^_^
