Because Metal Gear is, first and foremost, a cinematic experience. Kojima uses video games as a story telling medium first, a game play medium second. Because of this graphical superiority is a must, and quite simply the Wii can't hack it. Some of the older games, MGS1 for example, could probably be played on the Wii, maybe even the PS2 series. But that would require a team to put in effort to port it over, and it probably wouldn't be worth it in the profit department.

However, there is good news. Many years ago Silicon Knights made a GameCube port of MGS1, called Twin Snakes, and in the opinions of many(myself included) it's actually better than the original version. It's pretty easy to find used at GameStop, and it'll work just fine and dandy on your Wii.

 

No. The first Metal Gear game was released on the MSX computer. The game, just like today's MGS games, was made by Hideo Kojima. The NES game we got in North America was a bastardized version of the MSX game and was made without Kojima's help or consent.

When the first Playstation came out, it is Kojima himself that decided to continue the Metal Gear franchise, as the other gaming platforms at that time could not do what the PS1 did. Sequels followed on the PS2 and PS3, which is a logical evolution.

 

Um, what? If anything auto-aiming would make it less strategic as your essentially robbing yourself of an option and you turn your brain off. A person who is quick to aim will always beat a auto-aimer (not aim-bots mind you).

 

Oh and another question...

I heard reports that a Metal Gear movie is in development. Is this true? Please be so.

 

There is an *excellent* fanmade movie that got released last week, Metal Gear Solid Philanthropy. Well worth the (free) download. It has everything MGS fans could ask for.

As for an official high-budget Hollywood film, it's apparently being developed by the same people who did Equilibrium, but that might be nothing bu rumors at this point, as I've heard nothing new for about a year now.

Until then, go watch MGS Philanthropy! There are torrents for .avi and .mov versions, or you can stream it from the Philanthropy site

i cant wait for metal gear rising, bit nervious because its for the 360 as well so the graphics might be downgraded a bit but its gonna be new story

 

i love mgs, probably my favourite series of all time. but i wish peace walker was on a console. something about playing it on the psp, i'd never get round to it.

 

Some gaming sites have played the game and there is anywhere between 30 to 50 hours of gameplay. Unlocking certain things will onlock others, and so on.

Apparently it doesn't unlok stuff you can do, but stuff you will want to do.
Also, cutscenes are fully voice-acted, unlike Portable Ops which had lots of text.

This is definitely one of Kojima's most ambitious Metal Gear game yet. Too bad it's on the PSP. The controls, or lack of second analog nub, will make this challenging to say the least.

 

It kind of annoys me that it seems no one here is interested in MGS5. It only comes out in June, and yet there is only this thread that's shared with a shitty spinoff.

Im hyped for Peace Walker Just pre. ordered the collectors ed! Only thing im not goona like is its a ad for mountain dew.

 

I'm considering picking up the PSP Big Boss bundle, though I have an old 1000 series. I'm too weary that the "artbook" in the CE will end up being lame. I will definitely be getting this game though

Not true, lots of us are hyped about Peace Walker. The fact that it's getting released on the PSP is hurting it.

And for the record, we know absolutely NOTHING about Rising, so calling it a shitty spinoff is a bit much. The Sony fanboy in me agrees that it's shitty to have it released on the 360. Other than that, we know very little. Let's wait and see what E3 has in store for us.

Raiden's son seen at the end of MGS4 or Sunny, 12-15 years later.

Why? Because Raiden has brown eyes. This dude has blue eyes. Sunny had blue eyes.

 

nope...Riden's eyes have always been blue.

 

This is how I feel about it. If the game is a traditional Metal Gear and not like the previous PSP releases, awesome. I'll probably get it, but I couldn't the previous PSP releases.
