Kinda sucks they throw in the director's cut versions of 2 and 3 but we dont get Twin Snakes... ah well, still an awesome set. Always wanted to buy those director's cut versions but too expensive just for an upgrade, this'll fix that!

So wait...I already have MGS2:Substance and MGS3:Subsistence and this new set has those two PLUS the original Metal Gear Solid?

Damn. In some way, I feel I've been wronged.

Hey, this is going to be my THIRD copy of Metal Gear Solid 3.

I still haven't played it. At all. They're still in the shrink wrap.

Hmm... $30 for a spare copy of MGS3: Subsistence, or track down Twin Snakes and MGS2: Substance? The former is (possibly) cheaper, but the latter has better graphics (for MGS1). Decisions, decisions...

if its any help..............twin snakes is awesome......but, the cut scenes have been super dramatized, and the voices have been changed on some characters ( even some dialogue), I miss the original gray fox voice :(  other than that an amazing upgrade.

that is kind of cheap to not include twin snakes, but just for clarification, the "directors cuts" are just substance and subsistence right?

How much does it matter if I've never played MGS on PS1 at all?

so all we get is the games....while the Japanese release gets all the extra good stuff.

and is the "Director's cut" of MGS2 the same as the substance version???

that all depends.........doesnt really matter except you missed out on a GREAT game.

its gonna be tough to do a graphics backtrack and still take it as seriously as the rest of the trilogy though.

go find twin snakes, metal gear solid has the best storyline i think. Its much more believable and you dont get a headache trying to figure out double crosses or government conspiracies

what the hell are the directors cuts?

if i didn't have all the games already i'd be more tempted.

i'm still waiting for mgs2: play as snake edition.

The director's cuts are second releases of MGS 2 and 3, Substance and Subsistence respectively. Substance is MGS2 with a few slight changes, it also adds a boss mode and theater mode, as well as 500 VR missions, 300 taking place in VR, 200 in the main game's areas, where Snake and Raiden are both playable. There's also five plot-based missions just for Snake added. Oh, you also get, for amusement's sake, a skateboarding mode.

Subsistence adds versions of the first two Metal Gear games using the game's graphics, added a co-op online mode, and different camera angles in the main game, as well as more Snake vs Monkey stages and Europe's higher difficulty setting.

I just need the set for part 2, as I already have Twin Snakes and Subsistence.

But I never played either of them.

People like you just didn't GET Metal Gear Solid 2. You are Jack. Even when you were playing Metal Gear Solid 1, you were still Jack. You were running around in a video game pretending to be Solid Snake. That's why Snake tells you that VR training is no match for the real thing. He belongs there and you don't. And it's because you're real and he's not.

TURN THE GAME CONSOLE OFF RIGHT NOW.
