Metal Defender Voltron suffers from the same crippling reality of no neck articulation which could have really made this smaller version of voltron worth the price tag. So I fixed that. And you can too, heres how!

Take the screws out the back that the wings plug in to. Gently separate the halves (mine didnt separate at the bottom near the legs but you can separate the top enough to do this operation. Remove the head.

Below is a shot of the body separated with the head removed. The circled peg is what you need to pay attention to for this. Also notice the round arm bits in grey and "the ledge" at the back.

This is what your lego pieces will look like before you modify. Angle cut the light grey piece so it fits into the bottom of the neck. curve the ends for the arm bits. grind the nubs most of the way and notch the middle of the back and drill a hold in the center of the dark grey piece for the post

Heres what you should have when ur done modifying the piece

Once ur all done with that put him back together and enjoy your articulated head!

And there you have it. Now you can get Voltron Metal Defender to strike some sexy poses....(I'm not good at sexy poses).

Hope you all enjoy and can give this a try to make your Metal Defender all it should have been.

Now to work on those wings....

The shoulders are still killing any Legendary combining Voltron for me, if anyone can make those more show accurate I'd be more than happy to pick all these up. Love the mod though, I'll bookmark it for now

This is great! I'm going to have to go find a lego piece to do this neck mod.

As for my own contribution, I'm sure others have a better way of fixing it, but I created a simple 3d printed joint that can plug into the back of the black lion. You can then plug the wings in and get them to look the way they should.

It looks like I don't have enough posts to add links, but if you go to thingiverse and search for "Metal Defender Voltron Wing Joint Fix", that is the STL you need to print out for the fix.

nice work! i wish i had the ability to do mods like this. i love metal defender and the big legendary one and it's a crime they didn't have something as simple as a neck joint. especially with all the work that went into the other lions...

you got something there. The good thing is your idea didn't need break anything on the figure. If somehow someone or some way can use your idea to make an add on kit this would be great. Like a designer who can do autocad and creat this into shapeways design.
