This is a detailed replica (as faithful to the original as I can make it) of Sam's allspark shard. Made of casted solid metal. The carvings on the shard is chemically darkened to achieve its characteristic weathered finish (I used no paint).

And just for fun I made a carrying case from an empty Doublemint metal canister. Lined it inside with rubber sheet so the shard wont go banging whenever I carry it.

This is the first ever metal object that I made!
    Hope you guys like it

(im not sure this is the right place to post this. i hope im not mistaken):D

    That's really cool.
Did you uses sand casting or some other modus?
What kind of metal is it and what is the melt rate?
What are the chemicals you referred to?
I just might try something like this with pewter.
Pewter sucks for wearable use though.
It would have to be a display piece.:)

its pewter actually (should be lead free). casted in hightemp silicone. chemicals? uhm, liver of sulfur. I live in the Philippines and the materials i mentioned are not available here so i did some reseach to make them by myself. Hard work but exciting to solve. Thank God for the internet.:D

i made a display case for the shard. its theme is a fictional N.E.S.T. Allspark Energy Extraction Chamber. The top end is supposed to connect to an energy collector while the bottom end houses an electromagnetic isolating field generator. Made of acrylic tube and machined aluminum plus various hardware components. i added some weathering for realism. The Shard is secured inside on both ends by neoprene rubber.

but the best thing about this is i can open it anytime to enjoy the Shard!

    (ahh, this is obsession)
