It's for Animated Optimus Prime, my favorite mold of my entire Transformers Collection.

At first glance, the mold looks good.

I hope so. I want this to be good. I want this to change my opinion on them.

 

This is more WingBlade Prime than PowerMaster Prime. And aren't those wings upside down?

 

The images of robot mode, the one in the top right looks to have the trailer pieces on as armour. you can see the guns on the arm and new shoulder pieces behind the crystal version.

 

You know, I don't hate this (unlike the Grand Patriot disaster). Looks pretty dang cool, in fact. Always did like the Animated show and dug some of the toy molds (like Starscream and Blitzwing). This kinda gives me an excuse to pick up Optimus.

 

It's not even based on the actual proposed design? That gets a 'meh' from me in that case.

It's not an exact recreation, but it is based on the original design. We just haven't seen it all yet. We see the trailer mode, we see the wing pack, and we see a bit of the new powermaster arms in one of the pics. There's still a ton of things in that trailer we haven't seen yet, like the obvious leg extensions, or what the sides of the trailer become (they were to be the wings on the cancelled hasbro figure, and may be wings on this one. the wing pack we've seen so far may just be "here, have wingblade stuff too").

In order to make it exactly like the planned official Powermaster figure, they'd have to make a brand new base figure as well, since it was originally going to use a new deluxe-sized optimus specifically engineered to support the combination with the trailer. Instead, they decided to use the voyager as a base, and are working from that.

I have two major hopes for this: That the entire trailer becomes armor with no extra bits left over, and that the Powermaster hands can hold the leader-classed Magnus Hammer, or they give us a new one with it.

They've really got the style down, and they're obviously packing it full of features, like a new big axe for those who don't have the deluxe to take the axe from. I can't wait for this to come out. They will have my money. I hope this is a big success so they continue to do Animated stuff, because of all the possibilities there are for add-ons, accessories, and complete figures, and no other groups are touching it. Animated could be Xovergen's thing.

 

You know what's great about this so far? It looks like an Animated toy, with the different modes and stuff. That's something I'd expect an official product to do. Usually 3rd parties have a clear goal with little wiggle room. This seeems a tad more... abstract, which Animated did sometimes.

Also the fact that it comes with another axe so that my Deluxe Prime can have his back is great.

I hope to God this is true. Animated is a gold mine waiting to be tapped. I'm astonished nobody's even tried so far.

TFA no future~~ very cheap price and many stock in hong kong.

 

I still think Wasp would sell. Yes you get stock of everythign else produced in the hundreds of thousands but Wasp is a main character and will be made in 3P numbers 500-5000? I don't know numbers are one thing no one seems to know about in regards to 3P sales.

 

They're insane. If they can make 50 damn Devastators and have them sell Animated should be no problem.

 

Not really a fan, so far. The whole point was that it was going to be based on what we saw in the book. I know it can't be done exactly the same, but this just seems to disregard the entire thing. The original idea had the sides of the trailer fold out into huge wings, like Cybertron Optimus. This just has wings like Wingblade Optimus. You can also see part of a shoulder in one picture, and it seems to just slide on over the regular shoulder. Once again missing the point entirely. I know for a fact you can fold the arms up in robot mode. I checked.

 

Oh please let this get released. I'm kept my Animated voyager class Optimus just for this.

liking that it includes an accurate axe, not likin that the axe and gun that were inclded with the voyager are being used as part of the alt mode.

really hope theres more to the robot mode upgrades than what we are seeing

 

I'm actually really impressed. The engineering I'm seeing here is pretty damn good so far. In some ways even better than their Powermaster upgrade their working on. I'll really be interested to see this in color. Only downfall they might have is the materials. Their Grand Patriot was kinda bad really and the materials will make or break this I think. I'm really looking forward to seeing what else this has going for it though.
