Were any of you as suprised as me about Megatron's voice in TF: Prime? :jawdropper:

Being that it's none other than Frank Welker, I was expecting Megatron's voice to be the same as it was in G1! :inquisiti

But instead, his voice is way different. More deep and sinister! Almost like 2007 Movie/ROTF Megatron's voice.

After hearing TF: Prime Megatron, I bet you anything Michael Bay is stomping on his own nuts for not getting Frank Welker to voice Megatron for the 2007 Movie and ROTF, much less TF3! :lol

You can sort of hear the G1 Megatron in there, but it's much deeper - like the WfC Megatron. I think it fits well with his bulk and demeanor.

I'm guessing it's because doing the original Megatron voice is so rough on your throat that it'll render you mute after you leave the recording booth.

Watch the comic con preview, Welker said he was going to bring the voice back a bit. Make it more schemey >=)

Yep, Welker had already said back at Comic Con in July that he was toning down his G1 voice for TF: Prime.

I like it. I can distinctly tell it's Welker, and I find myself waiting any moment for Welker to start shrieking. But this Megatron with Welker's voice sounds as distinguished and intelligent as Animated and Beast Wars Megatron. But I can't wait until the action scenes with Megatron, and the scenes Orci and Kurtzman have described him as seeming like a "tragic hero". There, Welker will no doubt shine.

Yes. Afr all I heard about it I expected it to be good. It wasn't.

    People age.

    I wish this were true.

I highly, highly doubt this. Weaving's Megatron is one of the best Megatron voices I've heard, this... is just so meh it hurts.

I really like Welker's new take on Megatron's voice. A nice blend of old and new.

Sounded pretty sinister. If voices could be battle scarred, this would be it. So yeah, I liked it.
Although I must say, I was expecting Corey Burton's Megatron voice to come out of him at first. :lol

I loved this Megatron. It's now the 3rd best Megatron in my book. As I said Welker is attempting to dethrone WFC Megs from the #2 spot. If he dethrones #1 I will be very surprised indeed, yeessss.

I never liked G1 Megs. Granted it was a toy commercial that wasn't taken seriously but that voice was just bad for the character. Hugo Weaving did a good Megs for the movie and I'm glad people are following his example, including Frank Welker.

I was afraid of Welker being back due to hating his perfomance in ROTF and TF games, but his TF PRIME voice is pure awesome. Sinister, commanding, aged, the perfect Megatron.

Almost as perfect as the Animated one.

I'll probably get used to it in time.

It definitely doesn't sound like G1 Megatron. To me, it sounds like sleep-deprived Skywarp.

Love it. And if anyone has the right to change around Megatron's voice, it's Welker. Listening to the old G1 voice, one has to wonder if Welker modified his voice in Prime so he wouldn't be coughing up blood at the end of every recording session.

I just finally realized who Megatron here sounds like - Kevin Michael Richardson. It just sounds like him to me.

    Strange.

Welker's lines seemed natural while Cullen's seemed forced.

Yeah, I was in that crowd too, but when I heard him doing the new voice in the Comic con vid, I was ashamed that I ever doubted Frank Welker's skills. lol

I didn't get that. I think they both performed well. Maybe some of his lines felt forced, but I donno.

Yeah, I really like Meg's voice this time around. It actually kind of reminds me of Corey Burton's performance.

    I noticed that too.

Meg's voice was awesome, I really love Welker's new Megs voice and the new body.

I agree with this. Megatron's lines just seemed to flow very nicely.
