So I am a Gun fan. Unapologeticly so. So I was thinking the other day about the Walther P-38 that Megatron (G1) is based off. With all the attachments he is based on the gun used in The Man from U.N.C.L.E..

Now digging around I have found this P-38 AC 40 and the wheels started turning.

I want to get the parts to make a REAL Megatron! I know this will take a while and will be expensive (another reason it will take a while) but I think I am going to start trolling gun shows looking for what I need.

No I don't plan to have a Police Stand-Off with it. I'll use Reissue Megatron for that ;)

It will only be for Firing Range Purposes.

I don't know about AZ gun laws, but generally, silencers are a no-no in a lot of states. Many require a special class permit.

The P-38 is a damn good gun. I own one. As it is, it functions flawlessly.

You can find scopes for semi-automatic guns, but mounting them can be difficult for older models such as this. I do not recommend doing any permanent alterations to a P-38 as it is a valuable piece. I recommend finding a legit gun smith for the barrel and parts and see what he says before doing anything. Hollywood's gun used blanks, not live ammo, and that there is a big difference. Good luck. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

I actually was not thinking about a working silencer, just something that completed the look. I was thinking the Gun Smith route as we have a lot of good ones here.

That's cool. I'm sure a gunsmith can do the proper rifling in the barrel and such.

    Cool. Sounds fun.

As a gun nut myself, I am behind this project and look forward to pics when you get it finished, and if possible a video of the firing.

You realise the stainless P38 you've pictured there is an airsoft one? Sure you have, but I thought I'd mention it.

I've seen people convert airsoft P38s into the U.N.C.L.E. version, but I think making a Megatron would be a first, especially out of a real firearm. Might be worth checking this out.

Pick up an issue of Shotgun News at any store with a magazine section. The parts will come to you quite quickly.

WWII guns still work flawlessly. I have a Browning HP and VIS Radom from before WWII. They were inherited from my grandpa who fought in WWII. They're both great, the only problem is with HP, his barell is lightly pitted from the inside.

How much is P38 in your country? Here in Serbia the price for P-38 is around 300 euros.

    Hm.

I thought you meant you were going to make an action master/figure/statue from a P38.

I wonder if anyone's tried that yet.
