Hi. There has been a few threads about the DOTM adaptations ending VS the films but the answers always seem to be "The movie ending fit the movie and the novel/comic ending fit the novel/comic. In this thread it's Megatrons movie story VS the adaptations. Also please don't turn this thread into a fight about weather Optimus should have killed Megatron.
How do the comic, novel and movie differ in their portrayal of Megatron? Different mediums written by different folks tend to create different stories; however, isn't the end result the same in this case—I haven't read the comics/novel for any of the movies.
I haven't read the comics but have heard what people say. They make it sound like Megatron decides that the future of Cybertron is more important than conquest. He makes peace with Prime and goes of to rejoin the Decepticons and lead them back to Cybertron. Also apparently internal dialog makes it sound like Megatron has not given up but wants to save Cybertron first.
Yep. I haven't read the book, but from everything I heard, it gives him a lot of personality and portrays him as weary after all the millions of years of war, and Cybertron's death weighs heavily on his mind. It's odd to see Megatron as more of a sympathetic character, but I dig it, and wish the movie had done the same, instead of him constantly moping around and not even getting a proper fight. Personally, it's how easily he was killed that really makes me dislike the movie ending. It is just too fast, with no tension. It wasn't thé final battle it should have been. It feels like they considered him a joke, not even worthy of a proper pay off.
Film! I Like to keep Megatron Being the type that would say, If I'm not the Leader, nobody is for there is only one command, and that is Mine, I don't like this, Even though I'm Power hungry, and to Prideful to ever excepted peace and though I Started The War that Destroyed our planet and I've killed You I want to Give it All Up, I'll even come back for you, It just doesn't feel like something Megatron would do, At least Not to me, thats just My preference and Opinion though
I agree but the adaptation's story better than big dumb Megatron that was the result of him having his story cut. but I can see your point. Also I think saving Prime was still just a side effect but it seems more like he gets his revenge when he survives. When he dies from the person he's just accidentally saved, he just seems stupid.
Agreed, that would be good, but then who would be commanding the 'Cons, because Sentinel kind of took control of them.
^This. Plus if only for Igor having the last scene at the end. ^This also works too. Infact this is actually more heartfelt.
