That episode confuses me. The Autobots that were in the oil field were dressed by Decepticons? I mean when the Decepticons came to attack them, all them were there and who was the Autobots during the attack? And the real Autobots were still at City Hall? Cause we see Starscream shoot Wheeljack and then we see him as Prime, weird and confusing. And why didnt Teletraan-1 shut himself down or blocked Megatron from changing the flight path? And the Dinobots were where they?

    Thanks

    Confused by G1.

    What a shock.

I'll put on my productive goggles and let you know that G1 is plagued by plot and animation errors. The reason the Decepticons appeared in two places at once and the reason Teletraan-1 got hacked was because the show creators never thought that far.

I actually just watched this episode on dvd not too long ago. I remember that I did see an error while I was watching the episode. It might've been the Starscream thing that you mentioned, I don't remember specifically what it was. This series had no shortage of errors. It's better not to dwell on them and just enjoy the ride. After all, I still thought that this was a really good two part story.

It is interesting that Teletran doesn't have any type of security passwords or anything so that Megatron or other Decepticons can't hack into it, guess there wasn't a lot of computer hacking on Cybertron when Teletran was created four million years ago. I suppose the Dinobots were on the shuttle and we just didn't see them, there were many other autobots who weren't shown as well. Again, I wouldn't think too much of it.

Well this episode confuses me because it SUCKS.

I mean, the plot of Decepticons framing Autobots for crime may have worked in the comics, but in the cartoon it's just stupid.

If you think too hard about the G1 series you'll have a stroke. Watch. Enjoy. Rinse. Repeat.

I usually hate when "Animation error" is used as an explanation, but this time, there really is no other explanation. What is strange is I don't know if its so much an animation error as much as a continuity error, because when he's there as Starscream, he has several speaking parts, so it clearly wasn't a mistake. Stranger still, when I watched this in 2nd grade, it made perfect sense, which is probably what they were aiming for (target audience). Most people might call me a dumb kid, but I bet anyone my age probably felt the same way, they just won't admit it.

You know what I just thought of is that the Decepticons showed on more than one occasion that they could create an Optimus Prime duplicate that they could control. So it's kinda stupid that they had Starscream dress up as Optimus when they could've just made another Optimus clone. Oh well, 80's cartoons. What can you say?

Minibots wearing lab coats should have been the only explanation needed.

Makes as much sense for them to wear labcoats as humans, though you'd have to wonder where they'd GET them.

Most of the 1980's can be explained with one word, cocaine.

It wasn't just strange weird logic in cartoons but in live action shows like the A-Team or the Dukes of Hazard. You just had to accept it was pretty crazy period in cartoons, TV, movies, music, fashion and everything else.

Case in point. KITT could unlock non-electronic padlocks remotely.

^That's what made it so great. You had to suspend disbelief for everything, which made it fun. Today's stuff doesn't compare

The Decepticons masquerading themselves as Autobots in that episode, and later on in the season actually towards the end of season 2 The Autobots returned the favor as masquerading themselves as The Stunticons to go undercover to spoil Megs plans.
