nuh uh. he found the pistol on the field, the saber he had it on him.

 

It looks as thou he pulls it from a leg compartment. NOT from the battlefield. Sorry he had it on him. Freeze the frame and you'll see.

Seeing as they haven't really showed off that feature and the sword seems to be one solid piece, I doubt it. Though it would be cool.

The script mentions something along the lines of, "MEGATRON reaches down to his heel, where a compartment opens and out pops a LASER SWORD, which he ignites and swings at OPTIMUS PRIME."

 

His laser sword and mace, with Prime's laser axe amd schwing!

Was always a little bummed that Meg's fucted Prime up with a normal handgun just laying around instead of his own cannon.

 

Well, I think the popular fan-theory is that since the Autobots were low on Energon reserves, their older bodies just weren't as capable of taking damage as they used to be.

Of course, the real explanation is that the entire pacing of the movie is made up of plot devices and contrivances for the sake of paving way for the new generation of toys.
