Does anyone wonder what powers a weapon as strong as Megatron's fusion cannon? Or am I just thinking too hard about the movies?

Could be by some sort of nuclear fusion reaction also.

According to "Transformers: The Ultimate Guide", Megatron's fusion cannon can interdimensionally tap energy from the heart of a black hole.

Kittens. Megatron takes little kitties and shoves them in his arm. Puppies gave him gas.

Just because you say it twice doesn't make it true. Especially when there's no evidence to prove such a thing in the films and supporting media or your post.

That's not how dark matter works, or is even theorized to work.

I don't think there's any subspace tapping in the Bayverse like in the G1 universe (so black hole is probably out of the picture), but we can basically make fusion blasts now using current technology, Megatron probably just has a much more efficient and advanced way of producing and directing them. The fusion cannon could, ironically, self-power, if it generated enough energy that it could spit out a blast AND store some of the energy to initiate the next firing.

Wait a minute, Megatron had a fusion cannon in bayformers?

Where was it, in the black hole where the other plot holes go?

First movie, combined form of both arms, blasted Optimus across a street into a building, taking him out of the fight for a good while.

Second movie, part of the iconic murder arm, primary weapon, used to murder Optimus, humans, Sam and later his own face.

Third movie, converted into handheld shotgun type, used by Megs to shot the crap out of Sentinel, used by Optimus to shoot the life out of Sentinel.

Just to relieve your worry ;)
