Despite what Bay has said regarding Meg. return, I speculate He will return to TF2.

From reading that leader class Prime's box, it's looking a little doubtful that he'll show up in ROTF. Maybe at the end?

If Megatron isn't in the second film I can see enough backlash that they would almost be forced to include him in the third film. It's been the Megatron and Prime dynamic across so many different series that it's hard to imagine one without the other.

With the fight between Megatron and Prime being so ingrained into anyone that has ever watched Transformers The Fallen or Starscream would really have to be something to totally replace Megatron as the main bad bot. Just don't see that happening.

Not having Megs in the second movie (or having Megs just making a brief appearance at the end) really builds up suspense/momentum for the third movie. It would make a final battle in the third that much more exciting.

Exactly, think of the movie's like very long episodes. Megs dies in one... then shows up two episodes later. Let the spotlight shine on someone else (aka Starscream) while he's gone in that one episode.

Yeah, but Orci said ROTF would not build a bridge over to TF3

Having Megs appear for like two seconds at the end of TF2 just to say "I live!" would not be "building a bridge".

Yeah, that's no different than Starscream shooting into space at the end of the first film.

I think Orci said something about how they didn't want to pull that cliffhanger junk in the second film like other franchises have. Still leaves plenty of room to set up things for a third film though even without a cliffhanger ending.

Sort of going back to how films in a franchise used each have an ending while still being connected together. You know like how The Empire Strikes Back had an ending to stand as it's own film but then it also set up things for Jedi.

If Megatron is not back for ROTF, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Aside from giving other Decepticons and threatening forces an opportunity to shine, I also think it may well be a mistake to just throw Prime and Megs at each other for every one of these movies, that would get old quickly, no matter how many different ways you try to portray their struggle with one another. The audience don't just want to see essentially the same fight with the exact same combatants again and again. Let's see how Prime and the Autobots, along with their new human allies, face up against new challenges and threats, something we haven't seen before.

i hope they make it more like the spider man series in the way that each stands alone well, yet the consequences of each one affects the plot of the next. only without it turning to fanwank shit by the third one.

The thing is though no matter which lead Decepticon, Fallen or whatever faction they want to throw at Prime it's always going to be the same fight given it's a Hollywood film. The bad guy will look all super bad ass at first only to be beaten by Prime so the film can have a happy ending.

Unless they are going to pour loads of character into the main bad bot to make them stand out from movie Megatron then it's going to be the same fight over and over again anyway.

Given the quality of movie villains lately, the almost interchangablity of movie villains, and the disposable nature of movie villains, the general public seems more than willing to pay to see the same thing over and over and over again.

Plus I don't see how any of the Decepticons are going to get to shine if they are just going to get killed off. It's rather hard to form any attachment to characters who are just going to get killed off and never be back.

the movies arent a 12 episode series though. they dont have time to let someone else shine. Megatron is the bad guy, they established that in the first movie, going back on that and introducing an ew bad guy is just lame writing.

no one had a problem with neo fighting agent smith through out the entire trilogy, or superman going against lex luther, or the x-men against magneto, etc etc...prime vs megatron isnt the only fight that will happen in the movie anyways, there are many autobots and decpeticons to mix things up

both of those movies were good, thats what trilogies are supposed to do. they are one movie divided into 3 parts to make one long good movie. Containing each movie just makes the "trilogy" 3 seperate movies with the same characters, not one story, in other words....wak

Megatron still being alive would be the most perfect thing EVER!

    For after credit scenes.
