    The Sector70 Lab

This custom Transformers toy was made for Sector 70's Megatron Challenge. I based it on the 1st of Alex Milne's Megatron designs from the Megatron: Origin mini-series.

This figure began life as a Generations Skullgrin. The head was swapped with a Classics 2-pack Megatron. The stock hands were also articulated. I modified the turret barrel-end into a jackhammer chisel, to better reflect the future Decepticon warlord's humble beginnings as an Energon miner. This is also the first weapon with which Megatron took a life. I felt that was very important and integral to the character.

Admittedly, I took some artistic liberties with the alternate mode. It is a mobile excavation platform/light Energon transport vehicle.

Krylon camouflage ultra flat was used for primer, with Mr. Hobby dark gray used for the base coat. Games Workshop, Model Master, and Testors paints were used for detail work. The Energon cubes were made by using Reprolabels' sticker sheet. The decals were custom-made and designed by me, and sealed with Testors Dullcote.

Great job on him Alty! It is really hard to take a mold that has such a distinctive look, and be able to sell it as someone else! Believe me, I am SOLD, that this is Megs! Love the nod to his gladiator days with the black/yellow stripes!

Yes! I've been waiting for this for a while, but never thought to use Skullgrin as a base figure

This is my thought as well. You did a fantastic job recreating this Megs. It looks almost as if it jumped straight off of the page.

    DAMN... that's BEAUTIFUL.

I have mixed feelings about Megatron:Origin the series, but this works so well, both in concept, and overall style! The yellow hazard stripes are the piece de la resistance. Love it!

Thanks for all of the love, fellas. I jury-rigged the hell out of a light tent for this one. This bash was also my first attempt at home-grown decals. There's always something new out there to learn. :)  If I could go back, I'd add weathering detail to them as well. Things like chipped paint, washed out colors, etc. Anyway, that is for another time! I gotta move on. I'm glad you all dig him.

Now to wrap up Omega Spreem for Warriorpriest! :)

Beautiful work all round. He really makes justice for an earlier Megs.

I still love this guy and, if I'm 100% honest, prefer this over the one that won. It's great too, but I love how this really captures the essence of M:O Megatron. :thumb

I dig it! the detailing looks really good! That's a great way to put Skullgrin to work for a change instead of just clogging up all the shelves at retail.
