I was reading the last issue of the movie prequel comics and it has an ad in it for this and it says 'in stores now' .... must have been a change.

Definitely looking forward to this one!

So, Megs started out as some kind of labor worker, and that's why he's got those yellow and black striped patterns on him. Interesting.

Art is very, very impressive. I wasn't a big fan of Milne's stuff in the past, but I like this as much as I've liked most of DON and EJ's stuff.

Based on nothing solid, but the imagery kinda suggests oppression of the 'Cons by the Autobots. The shield maybe tells us that Alpha Trion/Sentinel Prime isn't exactly loved by the crowd he's addressing, and needs Secret Service-style protection. Not exactly a traditional portrayal of the Autobots, but it IS a Megatron Spotlight.

If I'm right, I'll read is a portrayal of the 'Con's warped perspective.

Man, reading that update just makes me want TF comics. Now!

Btw, I think the Autobot with the huge shield is freakin cool.

    1. I am glad to see Hasbro is really using the comics medium to market the movie. It's not unusual to see the medium used, but they seem to be putting a major focus on it.

    2. I was really worried when I heard IDW got the license for Transformers.
(I was like "Who?") But I will say this: There has never been a better time to collect Transformers comics. Never.

    3. I think the Autobot with the huge shield looks like Fortress Maximus; at least vaguely.

    4. The Autobot to the left of the podium reminds me of Machine Wars Optimus Prime.

So glad IDW is around so I can at least have something Transformers around while I have to go blah, no thanks on the movie stuff.

The art work on the Megatron issue is just down right jaw dropping. Plus with the writting on things like the Kup Spotlight we know they can come up with some great things on the writting front so this may end up being my favorate comic book of the year.

Plus it was good to hear things are moving forward on the Beast Wars front. More goodness on the sort of main story arch, and even good news about the cross over with the Avengers.

Thanks to all the people working so hard at IDW to keep me on the active side of the hobby while I have to weather the storm of the live action movie.

The autobot with with the shield; looks to me like Milne was going for a Gundam kinda feel.

The autobot with the shield has the look of the ancient "weapons product" robots that eventually evolved into decepticons in the G1 cartoon. Watch any G1 episode with the quintessons talking about cybertrons past and you'll know what I mean.

Hey, did any anyone else notice all these worker bots have similar helmets like Megatron? Like maybe they're wearing hardhats.

Any ideas on who the other 'bucketheads' with Megatron are?

There are no Cons yet. Remember, Megs will just start the whole movement! And as Stalin and Lenin did, he'll use the easily controllable worker class, as there seems to be one on Cybertron too.

Great idea that Megs' iconic helmet was actually a miner/worker safety helmet, you can see there is an eye-gear or visor attached to it, and every worker is wearing one.

On the last page, I think the first face on the left is Scorponok, and the third is maybe Razorclaw, but I cannot make out the rest... without their original helmets all TF faces look pretty much alike.

And people say the movie 'bots are "too busy"?? I have trouble telling where 'bot begins and background ends (and they're static images).
