OK, I know I shouldn't complain because I've waited 20 years for Megatron to be a gun again(sold in the US). But did he have to be a Nerf gun? Is he going to take over the word with foam darts?

He doesn't actually shoot foam darts. Plus, his alt mode kinda resembles a real firearm (a Socom, I believe) so his new alt mode is just a toy-iffied version of that, as is the Nerf gun. Its not as though he was meant to turn into a Nerf gun for the purposes of the character (for instance, I doubt his bio is going to refer to this form as a Nerf gun). Just as theNerf gun you posted has to look different enough from a real gun that Hasbro would be willing to release it, so does Megatron.
Yeah, its really just a matter of which spin you want to put on the situation, but I'm really liking this figure, so I'm going with the more positive one. :D

I can live with the laughable alt mode and crappy colors for such a badass mold.

The fun I'm imagining having weilding him at my desk overcomes any nerf or sucky colors it may have.

Would've been awesome if they used G1 Meg's colors instead of the goofy colors.

I WISH he fired foam darts, he'd be the best ever role-play toy then.

yeah that would've kicked ass, but that's ok. when I get him, I WILL paint and dye him to be proper colors, and then he'll look just as good in both modes.

Yeah, and then it would have been more awesome when they couldnt legally release him in the US, and he never made it into production because of that.

    awesome.

Red instead of green and yellow, would not have prevented him from being sold in the states. I don't know what's up with the purple. What, is he channeling cartoon Galvatron?

He's pretty much a generic sci-fi pistol. Reminds me a lot of Ronon Dax's gun on Stargate Atlantis.

As for the Nerf gun description...I tell myself its a some kind of hi-tech gun or a Cyberton gun mode...

It looking NOTHING like a SOCOM.

The Nerf Maverick was inspired by Judge Dredd's Lawgiver pistol used in the motion picture. Megatron's alt mode is allegedly based off the Nerf Maverick.

I don't know man. That Megs looks a lot like a Socom, but like an alien version of it or something. Kinda ironic that my avatar is Solid Snake wielding a silenced Socom.

BTW, how much does the Classic figures cost?

    "NOTHING" you say?:peoples:
Not enough like one that they could ever be confused , but its there. And what inside source do you have that it was allegedly designed off a Nerf Maverick, rather then both being independantly based off various guns (real and fictional)?

Yeah, like I said it looks A LOT like a Socom. I know they're trying to keep the G1 look and style, however you know what would have been cool? If Megatron's cannon arm, instead of turning into a scope, it could have turned into a suppressor/silencer.

Still not seeing it. By your rational ANY auto with a LAM unit on it would look like the classic Megs.

You can choose to either believe what I say or not. I have no need or desire to spend the time defending information, which I have freely provided for your benefit. I can only pass these fun little factoids from what I have heard and know from various sources including and not limited to friends that work in the industry.

Where is Orson when you need him?

I'd settle for electronic sounds and/or lights. I know a lot of folks out there are anti-gimmicks, especially in this line, but if anything is asking for it, it's a frickin' GUN!
