I'm posting this as much for LOL value as for news value.

'Con fans rejoice, because Optimus and Bumblebee are no longer unopposed in the galactic battle for Halloween candy. I just stumbled across 2 different child's Movie Megatron costumes on eBay. I was unable to find any evidence that someone had already posted about these, including checking ams's merchandise mega-list.

The first is a mask and "vest" version, seen here.

Next, for extra suffocate-your-child-in-impermeable-vinyl points, is the full bodysuit version. It's complete with gloves, as well as "3D" chestplate and shoulders, and is seen here.

    Be afraid. And discuss.

Uhhh, looks like this guy just printed onto some vinyl and cut it out.

But, this is a great way to make movie megs look worse. Print him on a highway garbage bag with an ink-jet printer and wrap it around a 3ft tall kid. Why didn't I think of that?

Methinks you haven't seen many mass-market children's Halloween costumes. Lots of them are like that.

That seller isn't the only one with the "3D" ones. Here's another, this time without the image background cut out.

There also a "3D" Optimus costume, seen here.

*looks further* Wow -- and now a non-"3D" reversible Optimus/Megatron costume, here.

Note that these are all in Australia, so far.

.......Why is it the killer dwarves from "The Brood' came to mind when I looked at the full-body costume? Anything small and wearing Megatron's head like that is something you need to run away from or hit with a blunt object.

Why does Hasbro keep insisting on using that old, ugly, out-of date head design!? Why not use the awesomesauce movie ver.!?

I think it's because all this stuff was planned and designed early on, before Megs got his face-lift - slash - head transplant. Kind of like how all the 'bots and 'cons on the merchandise have brown and red eyes instead of glowing blue and glowing red - the companies Hasbro gave the licenses to only had the concept art to work with, and most of the concept art for Megatron have the earlier head design.
