During Megatron's battle with an Insecticon, the big bug managed to make Megtron bleed. But the liquid was blue instead of dark purple, which suggests it was energon instead of Dark Energon.

But isn't it supposed to be Dark Energon that flows inside of Megatron now?

Since Unicron's defeat, Dark Energon seems to have vanished. Thus, Megatron has returned to normal, so to speak.

He learned to drink more liquid water. Helps cleanse the blood.

The series started when Unicron was dormant, and we saw the power of dark energon even then. So dark energon should still be active, unless Unicron is dead.

Also, Megatron have become dependent on the dark energon in his spark chamber to keep his spark aflame(which doesn't make much sense considering DE is anti-spark0). So DE should still circulate in him.

Who said he was dependent on it?

He himself said it's dark energon that keeps his spark aflame.

When he was dormant, yes, it still worked. But after having the Matrix of Leadership blasted right into his spark, Unicron and all his essence seems to have vanished.

Megatron is no longer dependant on DE, it appears. It rejuvinated him, yes, but now his spark seems alright without the dark stuff.

    *Shrug* That's my guess, anyway.

Perhaps he had all of it ejected out of his systems so Unicron could never again control him? That makes some kinda sense.

After the battle with Unicron, it was expelled from his system. Just like Ratchet expelled synthetic energon from his system. Same principle.

Depending on the "level" of stasis the matrix induced it's possible that we wouldn't witness dark energon having a big effect again Unicron's next awakening. This would also lend itself to dark energon becoming a myth/legend or as Ratchet mentioned "so scarce as to virtually non-existent".

Or is it possible that like regular energon that dark energon is consumable? Rather than Megatron expelling it the combination of Unicron's return dormancy and the various fights (and subsequent usage of normal energon) he merely expended it?

He doesn't have Dark Energon anymore. Or if he does it's not active.

I'm a fan of the "no more dark stuff" theory. Unicron is dead.

Then he should still bleed Dark Energon, it's just shouldn't glow.

Agree but at least there should still be slight effect on Megatron, don't think all the Dark Energon vanish just like that.

It's likely he ran out of dark energon and now just uses the regular stuff. He doesn't really need it anyway.

The Nemesis was full of the stuff. Recall that he had Vehicons collect the (practically) rivers of the stuff when it was being expelled from that volcano.

He doesn't bleed Dark Energon (nor will it likely be touched on again) because of poor writing.

Maybe when it isn't "powered up" it's like energon but a different colour and maybe megatrons body filtered it

The latest episode showed that the blood of Unicron aka Dark Energon indeed still flows in Megatron. So how come he bled energon instead when the Insecticon injuried him?

They really should work out these plot holes. Now it's like Megatron's blood/fuel switch between Energon and Dark Energon randomly.

It was just an animation error. Either that or until last episode he's been using just normal energon for some time.
