With DOTM figures released today we get to see the full force of Mechtech. Initially I thought the idea was stupid and it seemed to be kind of redundant, especially on the Deluxe figures.

After fiddling around with it though, the feature is growing on me. Particularly taking random weapons and combining them to form some massive ridiculous Wheeljack inspired weapon for Leader Class figures.

IMO the best use of Mechtech so far is making Lazerbeaks feet mechtech port compatible so he can perch on larger figures--very outside of the box thinking, and all around badass.

Getting mechtech in my hand changed my mind about it (mostly, some of them are still too big for deluxes imo) and I even would welcome Hasbro putting out some kind of a weapons pack with repainted mechtech weapons or something...

What about everyone elses Mechtech impressions?

I bought a couple of figures, but for the most part, I'm not impressed. I prefer more traditional and less garish and outlandish stuff, like what we've seen on the Classics and Animated line, but that's just me.

I got a Crankcase today and I was instantly in love with his mechtech weapon. A gun that can suddenly reach out and grab someone? I kept clicking it out and quoting Scorpion saying "Get over here!" My son, 7yo, loved it also he thought it was neat, and after all weren't these designed for kids?

Can't speak of other figures mechtech weapons but I love Crankcase's.

The three I have i actually like. Skids' cannon is my favorite and it looks really nice when plugged into the port on the underside of his right arm.

Removing the springs to prevent them from snapping back helps too.

Out of the four figs I got so far, Megatron's is passable, but looks weird. I'd get rid of it if it weren't for the fact that you NEED to have it in alt mode. Otherwise I'd just bury it in concrete. Starscream's is awful, and Crankcase is carrying a boxgun. Fuck that shit.

Roadbuster's is the only one that looks good. I want to mod ROTF Lockdown now to carry it so he has his hook AND chainsaw ala Animated.

I'd love them even more.... IF THEY ALL LOCKED INTO PLACE.

Also, if anyone hates them so much that they don't want them, I'll gladly take them off your hands.

Yeah, so far the only MT weapons that can stay in place are the Leader ones.

The first pictures of the toys with the mech tech disgusted me to the point I was thinking of buying none of these new toys, however; after these past few months I've fallin in love with the gimmick. I love just putting random weapons all over a TF and really overdoing it :)

I have Roadbuster and I found it annoying that I couldnt keep the saw out. After adding tape around it to lock in into place it wasnt that bad. I just wish that size class could lock into place like the voyager figures can.

Yep. Voyager Megatron is sitting on the desk next to me with his cannon locked in deployed mode.

This was the weapon that made me like the gimmick as well. Something about a chainsaw launching laser :bay

    Indeed you are correct.

All 4 of the Voyagers I got had awesome Mechtech weapons. Most are neat, but Ratchet's really stands out. Its a saw that comes out spinning. How cool is that?

I don't know, i only have megatron (voyager) and crankcase (deluxe), but i'm digging the mechtech. It adds some playability to the figures. However, i don't like it as an excuse for making the figures smaller and cheaper plastic, i think that is still lame.

HOW? Shockwave has no problem, but I pushed Megs in all the way, and it doesn't lock...

That might be the other figure I get, i thought it looked cool, but if it actually comes out spinning, i might have to shell out the $10

My thoughts exactly.I was messing around with Roadbuster and Topspin trying to figure out how to lock the MechTech weapon into position like the picture shows on the back.I eventually figured out that you can't.Letdown.
