So now that we seen some of the mech techs what do you think about it? I personally think it was a bad idea cause its a bunch of extra pieces sticking out in alt modes.

I actually like it and may even love it once I get it in hand. A lot of figures from the previous movies had weapons sitting out in altmode (Jazz, Ironhide, Chromia/Elita-One, ect.) I'll just do with these what I do with those when I display them in vehicle mode; put them aside. When in robot mode, they'll keep them on any one of the several ports they have or given to another character for a bigger weapon or just put aside if the mood takes me.

    Unfathomably bad.

Mech tech better have one almight trick up its sleeve if it doesn't want to get filed under 'worst ideas Hasbro ever had'.

    Bad.
I feel like the MechTech weapons should've been a different line than the official movie figures.

The previous two gimmicks all had to do with Transformation, they didn't actually change the design of the figure. MechTech takes away plastic from the final figures, and really, all these weapons are looking stupid.

A collector isn't going to use the weapons, they're either going to be thrown out or stored away somewhere. Kids will use the weapons... but for collectors, they only serve to detract from the figures.

And so far, it looks like Hasbro's worried more about the gimmick than they have the quality of the figures.

Uhm yeah, you do realize these things are designed/made for (by and large) kids and not collectors, right??

How many more threads about people hating on something they've never actually seen for themselves do we need?

I personally don't like them and I personally think they're bad. They're not something I want to see.

But I think we may be overstating exactly how detrimental they are to the actual toys. They use extra parts and plastic that in many cases would be better used on the figure itself. No doubt about it. Extra holes and ports do not help vehicle modes, no question about that either.

But they might fool a child and this might add up to a lot of extra sales. I can kinda see why they do it.

No. It's a stupid concept. I'll probably remove all the mech tech weapons and display them without it. I doubt even the kids will care for it.

Amazing how you can know the plastic breakdown without ever actually seeing it.

Lolwut? I've seen the pics, as I have eyes. I've seen cars with guns as big as the car on top. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know there's a good bit of wasted plastic there. Not to mention somebody wasted time designing that retardedly big gun.

I guess I don't know WTF you mean.

OK question, does anyone actually think that Mech Tech is actually going to hurt sales of the DotM line?

I mean, we always say that we are the minority market for buying TFs and that all Hasbro need to do is get the kids and their mums to snap them up, but come on. Even kids aren't this dumb surely?

If there were TFs that looked like that when I was 10 I would have thought they looked ridiculous.

I don't think it will hurt anything. We forget how much fun giant foam missiles and huge swords on toys were when we were kids. When we look back on it now, we can see how stupid it was, but as kids we just wanted to have fun.

I actually think it's a good thing for the kids because the RotF toys almost seemed geared towards us adult collectors. While RotF Leader Prime was almost spot on, he is a pain for me to transform, and I've been doing this for 25 years. I would hate to see how badly a child would break him.

That said, as a collector, I'm actually a little shocked about how badly I think some of these figures look. At least the first movie toys seemed to find a good balance between kids and collectors. Megatron, Shockwave, and the HA buggy are the only one's I've seen that I'll be picking up so far.
