This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm honestly tired of every Optimus coming with that axe. I mean I'm sure it doesn't drive the cost up and I can just leave it in the box but I dunno: I'm just tired of it.

I'm glad he comes with the ax personally. Wasn't expecting it and was wondering how I would fashion one for him. Glad I don't need to worry about that now.

Speaking of the matrix, it does look like his chest panels open up so I bet he's got one of those as well.

I like the ax; it's one of those cartoon details that you need with OP. It looks like they are using Iron Factory's solution to the G1 fist weapons; it looks similar to the Lambos gun/piledrivers. Too bad they hadn't figured this out before Ironhead came out.

Nice! Glad to see the Matrix. Also I am pleased with how the chest opens; I can arrange Ratchet to repair Prime with those tools he came with.

Tired of the axe, too and I don't need another goddamned Matrix.

I actually have one in my pocket!

I also found an MP Megatron gun in my couch earlier.

Just give me all of the shit G1 Prime came with.

I must say, I feel that THS-02 Hybrid Convoy was one of the BEST figures ever made at this scale. It came out over 10 years ago- LONG before 3p groups even began putting out quality product. It was far and away ahead of its time, with features seen on the MP Prime figure, and better executed in Robot mode. True, the altmode did leave a lot to be desired. But I ultimately found that to be forgivable because it seems like most TF toys are designed with the altmode as the primary focus, leaving the robot mode coming up short... There are a few notable exceptions(alternators Smokescreen for one). I remember seeing the line-art preview for THS G1 Convoy one day before going to work, and deciding IT to be my first significant Transformers Purchase since Brave Maximus a few years prior. It has gone with me to EVERY desk Job I have had in the years since, becoming the centerpiece of my collection and inspiring me to collect Legends scale figures.

All that said, it DOES feel a bit dated now that 3p companies are doing things in that 4" size range. I always thought it would be great to have an Optimus Prime that could interact with the G1 Omega Supreme and/or Metroplex. GT's is cool but those hollow arms take a lot of the feel of heft out of Prime(tho the Megatron figure looks great), so this Mech Planet figure just might be the small-scale Optimus I have been searching for!

Wow, totally unaware of this guy until today. That's one of the best legends Optimus designs I've seen. If the truck mode is as clean as the bot mode, I'm very impressed!

Looks like a separate piece to me! So hopefully removable!

His arms look a little stumpy, but other than that I dig him.

Meanwhile I'm like "oooh, he's got his axe". The axe is a cool touch, the Matrix and trailer are even more so.

His forearm design though. That double door flap deal. Not a fan. I don't really like them on my Ratchet and Ironhide and those are only single flaps.

I guess the big question is what does the truck look like? The accessories I can make, but I really want the trailer.
The upper especially. His biceps disappear when the arm bends at the elbow.

Yeah, it is a nice touch. For me, I've just never put an ax on Optimus for more than a few minutes and have never displayed him that way (though I did do a pic of mp10 and apollyon with their ax/mace once) and I just kind of feel like it's an overrated gimmick. I suppose it's not that I'm annoyed that he includes it but I'm kind of annoyed that it's just kind of expected at this point. Like it seems like they're obligated to. Yeah, I'm probably talking out of my butt on this one but I just kind of got annoyed when I saw that ax again. It will be nice though. I'll just leave it in the box :p

Hm. I can see some of the white background showing between the matrix chamber and his neck plate on the left side (his right). I hope that doesn't mean he's open and hollow in the back.

I'm not sure how often I'll display him with the ax, but it is nice to have the option. Kinda like the sleds with Ratchet/Ironhide.

Judging from Bumblebee and that the chest opens up for the Matrix the only place the head could go is the back. So I would sadly guess it is hollow.
