This looks great, though I can't go to Botcon to get it...  

But I'm a bit confused on this topic: I thought 3Ps weren't allowed in Botcon, due to Hasbro's involvement. Are 3P offerings commonplace then, or something that's going to start being offered there? 3P panels, too? 

 

Well, if I manage to get my hands on this at Botcon before the one I preordered ships, then I'll be able to comfortably cancel my preorder

I'm confused by this too. Did FunPub change their stance, or is this an under the table exclusive?

 

3rd party toys were only banned at Botcon 2012. Last year, at Botcon 2013, they were out in full force by Sunday. Apparently the ban was lifted as of the last show, but most people and dealers did not know right away. As far as I know, the wording for the dealer contract is the same as last years, or else more dealers would be doing the after hours party room to sell their 3P products again. One thing I do know is that Renderform products are safe in the dealer room, since their addons for Hasbro figures.  

 

By "third party ban" they just made a vague statement in the dealer contract that no products that violated intellectual property laws would be allowed for sale or you could be kicked out. When pressed, they wouldn't say what they meant by that, or what was covered or not.... At first people were careful to put any third party stuff under tables, or sell it in rooms after hours, but eventually they started selling it again. No one has been kicked out yet.

BTW - Completely unrelated, but anyone else enjoy the postcard advertising third party products that comes in the envelope with theit TFCC magazine every month now? Or how last years Botcon comic advertised third party TF toys in the back?

 

Actually, I did notice that the last mag I got, the BBTS ad insert didn't have any 3P this time.

 

At Botcon 2012, Brian Savage went around asking retailers to hide 3rd party items for sale or were on display. I saw this personally happen at one table, along with hearing confirmation from other dealers.

Anyway, in regard to those TCC inserts? I like em, but prefer they have some color. The B/W ones are pretty bland, so I don't know why BBTS bothers. You know what I'd like instead? How about some company catalogs, like the recent one MT made? I guess it's still early in the game, but would be nice to get little catalog inserts, like the toys of yesteryear used to have!

I think this special edition should be made for us who have supported this little guy from the original pre-order, not for those going to Botcon.

 

Just got a new one today and the TFS one did. This is the first time I got a TFS one though...
