Nope, just a homage. But still, a really fun homage. (thanks to Pepsiman98 for the photo)

That was a pretty awesome homage. I literally replayed it twice just because I loved Beast Wars

As where I'm getting that from, internet chatter, and interviews. As to the fact that the Cartoon Network co-produces the series, yes they do. However if CN drops the series, and CN productions doesn't want anything to do with the series after that point it wouldn't be hard for them to find another co-producer, and network. The most likely co-producer would be CBS/Paramount Television Entertainment. Paramount Pictures co-produces and distributes the live action films, and Paramount Home Entertainment distributes the "Transformers Animated" series onto DVD. So they would be a logical assumption as a replacement, also Nicktoons is owned by CBS/Paramount.

Well, it seems to me that Nickelodeon did quite great job with Avatar: The Last Airbender. So hopefully the same guys end up helping out on TFA as well if they do end up with Nickelodeon.

I agree. Those animals were totally huge, especially the rat. Its just something strange. It might turn out to be a joke, a nudge by the writers to make us remember Beast Wars. But there is also the possibility that it might not be.

    I'm disappointed.

There also should have been a wolf/eagle/winged wolf.

A wolf and an eagle wouldn't work and where do you find an eagle winged wolf on earth? At least I assume they are still on earth since those are earth animals.

What I find odd is that those animals were together like that. That coupled with the sizes being off makes me wonder if there isn't something up with those animals, unless it is actually another planet in which case the odd sizes are easily explained away.

I think it would be cool if they did turn out to be maximals, but aren't related to cybertron in anyway. Like another breed of transformers unrelated to autobots and decepticons. Either that or have them be protoforms that landed on some jungle planet, and much like how Sari was born (who is really more or less the first maximal) they took on the form of the local animals that found them. And the reason they are more organic is the same reason Sari is, they were transformed naturally as opposed to how BA nad Wasp were transformed which is why they are more technorganic looking.

    Or it's just an homage...

I was referring to Silverbolt. If the writers/animators intended the four animals as merely an homage, I think they should have included Silverbolt too, considering the history between him & BA.
I was wondering the same thing. When would a Cheetah & a Gorilla ever meet in the wild?

They live in two different habitats.

These 4 are the original Maximals that crash landed... all the others were "formed" afterwards from statis pods...

Homage, but we can dream can't we?

Although the gorilla was brown, not black like Primal's original beast mode.

In addition to the size & habitat issues, cheetahs don't have green eyes - they have gold/brown eyes.

    Cheetor, OTOH...

Maximals or not, we can't actually know, can we?
I mean unless the production team tells us "no"
or the allspark almanac includes no mention
    we can't know.

Sorry I'm just aggravated by all the people
giving definite "No"s and acting as though those
who even entertaining the possibility of those being the
    maximals are ignorant. bah.

    Bull.

With the way CN's been lately I'd rather have it on another network anyway.

Hasbro needs to cough up the dough to make it's own Transformer animation company.

That way we can get all the Transformer Animated we want.

The show isn't just shown by CN, it's MADE by CN - Derrick Wyatt is a CN employee, as are most of the other staff (those who aren't CN employees are freelancers). It's like DreamWorks and the movie (which is why BotCon can't even use those movie moulds, like Megatron, which aren't licensed from a car company/etc) - CN has certain rights to the show that prevent Hasbro taking it elsewhere, even if they could find someone else willing to take over the show wholecloth *and* staff it with new people.

[Hasbro could, of course, take a new cartoon based on Transformers elsewhere, but couldn't base it on stuff specific to TF Animated.]

Maximals? Yes, but just a fan wank to the Beast fans. Maybe we've seen the last of Waspinator and the Spider Lady in Season 3.

That be kinda cool if at the very least the allspark almanac had some unused concepts of the Maximals drawn by DW, in it.

But yeah, overall It was just a cool fan nod.
