Beast Wars and Beast Machines has always been my favorite series not only because I grew up with them but because they were the most well wrighten with a memerable cast. What this topic is about is why the Predacons have so many other shows than the Maximals do. To start off with Maximals originated in Beast Wars and ended in Beast Machines. Predacons however actully originated from G1 and so did their activation code for that matter. Maximals say maximize to transform. Predacons say Terrorize. There's a spoof on you tube that put it best when they said "Why don't they just call themselfs Terrorcons?" Aside from the Predacon name being used way more offten I also wondered why durring Beast Wars they made a point to mention how they were Decendents of the G1 cast and that some of them took their names from the old characters but at no point did anyone ever talk about the G1 Predacons. It's kinda like how Star Trek never talks about the Origial series Klingons. I kinda wander, at some point after the Great War did Razorclaw take over as leader of the Decepticons, is that why the decendents are all Predacons? I mean why else would the future decendents all call themselfs by the name of a sub-group. And where the heck did the name Maximal come from? There were no Maximals in G1. Rampage who takes the form of a crab even fails to mention anything about the original Rampage who was the only G1 Predacon with a BW Counterpart. They don't say if they're the same character like Ravage or if he's a new character like Optimus and Megatron. To add to the confusion, they change what exactly a Predacon is in each series that has them... In G1 the Predacons were just a Sub-faction like the Terrorcons, Stunticons, Combaticons, and all thoughs others. There's really nothing special about them. In BW the Maximals and Predacons were decendents of the Autobots and Decepticons. They are shown to be much smaller and use less Energon than the Autobots and Decepticons did. So they're basically like thoughs tiny cars that we see now days that no one wants to drive. In R.I.D. when they were creating the Decepticons one of the stasis pods allmost scaned a bird but hit a shuttle insted. As this was happening Sky-byte mentioned how scanning an animal would make him a Predacon rather than a Decepticon. Megatron/Galvatron had also stated when he got his upgrade (otherwise known as a new paint job) that Decepticons were more powerful than Predacons. As a toy both Megatron and Galvatron were sold as Predacons but on the show Galvatron was suppose to be a Decepticon. Both Megatron and Galvatron had beast and vehicle modes. So from what I gather if your alt mode is a vehicle you're Decepticon, if your alt mode is a beast you're Predacon, if you have both animal and vehicle alt modes than it depends on how strong you are. In Armada though he was never actully on the cartoon a Repaint of TM Megatron was named "Predacon" in the toy line kinda like how Dinobot and Insecticon have both been used as a single character's name when they were originally sub-factions. And finally in Animated the Episode "Predacons Rising" which is nothing like I thought it would be, showed Wasp's upgrade into a Technorganic wasp. From what I can tell though they never actully used the term Predacon except for the title Animated Predacons are just Technorganic Decepticons. Note that is different from just having a best mode as non of the Dinobots were technorganics. The Dinobots were built to resemble dinosaurs but were completly mechanical. Blackarachnia, Waspinator, and Sari were a mix or robotic and organic material. This kinda makes me wander... in the R.I.D. continuity would a good guy with a beast mode be a Maximal? Don't know, never happened. In Animated, could Sari be a Maximal? Now Maximal characters have appeared in other series. Rhinox did have a small cameo in Armada. I'm fairly sure he was the only one from the toy line that made it on the show. The other two were Cheetor and Airrazor though Airrazor was sold as an Autobot her toy was molded with a Decepticon insignia on it. Great job Hasbro. And of course, though not named on Screen a character called Rattletrap appeared in an episode who was obviously modeled after BW Rattrap. And Predacons Rising had the beast modes of the original Axalon crew looking at Blackarachnia and Waspinator. Also going into Beast Machines, why did they create a 3rd group of villains when they could of just as easily called them Decepticons again or continued calling them Predacons. I mean the Japanese Beast Wars had Vehicle mode Predacons and Dawn of the futures past also shows their Cybertron forms were vehicles. Never really got why they changed the Maximal insignia either. Vehicons is just a lame name and there's really nothing that seperates them from the Predacons and Decepticons that came before them.
