    Hey all,

I am not sure if everyone on here knows but today I found some Battle in Space 2packs at Target, opened it and realized that the Matrix inside was made of metal.I was surprised that Hasbro did that as I haven't seen anything metal in TF's since the Titanium line. But I plan on keeping that no matter what,I also plan on getting me a necklace to wear it from.So I say to everyone who are weary to pick up the 2pack,get it as the Matrix is worth the price tag alone. And finally I have read lots of posts on here and none I seen said it was die cast metal.Later all.

I think a lot of people were already aware that the Matrix was a reuse from the one that came with at least one reissue Optimus in Japan plus the regular and eHobby Galvatrons, and was diecast in each case. So it probably never became a major point of note.

This piece was first released in late 2002. So yeah, it's been well-documented to be diecast, just like every other release.

It would be just as noteworthy to mention the Encore Sunstorm chest was diecast.

I don't know every little toy detail from the past ten years; so this is good info for me. Thanks.

It was pointed out that since it was part of the "Goodbye Convoy" set, it can fit in the cest of G1 Prime.

    You can find pics here.

I too was unaware of the materials of this Matrix until I opened the BiS pack so it was news to me too.

Actually, the name of the set the Matrix first appeared with was New Year Special Convoy, which was a 2002 toy. "Goodbye Convoy" was a different set from 1986. Just so nobody gets a wrong idea.

I also didn't know it was metal until I got it. Made me smile from ear to ear.

But New Year Special Convoy reused the clear blue window from Good Bye Convoy, right?

It doesn't, just trying to confirm my rusty memory. And maybe find a reason why one would mix up those giftsets. :p

Okay, that's cool. I was just worried I was missing some otherwise obvious connection there.

Yes, they both have blue windows. But the New Year's one also has painted blue eyes
