After been more than pleased with my Wave Macross SDF-1 (a little marvel), I'm interested in buying the original, but I was wondering how good is the toy? Size? Die-cast?

i don't know about the quality or anything, but if you can find it, find the original, non-matchbox version, i hear it's a lot better, *with missile launchers* and such, along with mini valkeries to go along with it. *non-transformable, of course* but they do "launch" from the carries nicely.

however it will cost more. and as with size, i'm not sure, but i would guess it'd be about the same size as the wave one.

it's pretty sweet. I picked up a mib dead white one about 4 years ago on ebay for about $120. it's about 10 inches tall, and has TONS of stickers. it looks really cool with all of the antennas out and such. I was originally going to look for one of the macross ones or whatever the originals were with the launching missiles and little extras, but couldn't find one, and to be honest, certainly don't miss them.

I only want the transforming one. Does it have die-cast or is it all plastic?

No, arms are fine. One of the shoulder cannons snapped, the reflex cannons' springs are shot, and the control tower's missing small antennaes. Also no stickers or missiles.

But it's still an awesome toy.

I have an original macross one, and for the amount of money your going to spend to get one, it's not worth it for just the lauchers and mini valks. Just go a Robotech (Matchbox) one.

I just read a review on Collection DX, it looks awesome in minty condition with all the stickers. I need to find one NOW. The hell with movie toys!

    Not.
