While good choices, I doubt it would happen. Hemsworth probably wants to avoid being typecast after roles as Thor and The Huntsman and going by what Weaving said about his role as Red Skull I don't think he'll be anywhere near this one. This would be too similar to what they have already done.

Didn't the old He-Man comics and books have a complete different storyline than the cartoon, where He-Man was just He-Man, or was he always Adam?

Yeah, all the stuff on Eternia is pretty awesome but all of Earth stuff sucks.

Because of this, I'll take the Beast Master any day -- the original, not the sequel, since it falls into the same trap of coming to our time/world and then thoroughly sucking.

Well I guess with films like Step Up 2, Step Up 3, and Never Say Never the Justin Bieber documentary under his belt, this was the next logical choice.

and don't forget GI Joe Retaliation.

Regardless like the original cartoon and movie this re-make will suck. He-Man has never been good in my opinion...though I like Skeletor (but then again I love 80's villains for how over the top and lame they really were.)

Actually if this film succeeds then there is a distant possibility of getting a She-Ra movie and that would make me happy in the pants. Also In general since I thought She-Ra was actually cooler than He-Man: her jokes were funnier and she was smarter.

I remember awhile back reading an awesome screenplay for a live action movie. I doubt that this will be based on what I read, but if it was, it would not disappoint. I think a MOTU movie would be a good thing. Spark some new life into this franchise and broaden the fan-base out.

Rossio's a solid writer, but I think it's going to come down to who they put in the director's chair. I was really intrigued when they had John Stevenson onboard a while back. He was one of the co-directors of the first Kung Fu Panda, and it would have been interesting to see if he could have translated his style to live action(even if you didn't care for KFP's story, the action sequences in that movie are stunning).

I do hope they keep elements of the Grayskull script as they work on the new project, as that sounded pretty interesting.

You know, it would be a pretty good nod/in-joke to have Dolph Lundgren play King Grayskull. That, combined with having real life brothers play Adam/He-Man and keeping it FAR away from earth would go a long way towards this not sucking.

I fully expect the next update to say the project has new writers, again. I don't think this movie is ever going to happen.

I sure hope this happens, and it's good.

Robotech looks like it will never happen, the GI Joe films haven't ever really captured the spirit of the franchise, Transformers films are getting old. TMNT has promise.... so Masters and Thundercats are the last two great untapped 80's properties that could become films. Sure there are others, but not top tier that everyone would really remember.

I would love to see Thundercats done with modern motion capture technology.
