I checked back a couple of pages and didn't notice a thread for this already.

Anyone else feeling stoked for this line? I know Mattel fucked up in the past. MAJORLY fucked up, and I realize that this new line is gonna have it's problems too, like international shipping costs and only ONE new figure per month, but the toys look so damn good! This is the Masters of the Universe that I wanted back in the 80's.

I've seen all of the ones they've shown so far and my opinion is that they look too similar to the originals. Why would I buy these when I can just get my old figures out of storage?

Because they look better? Granted, it IS the same designs, but with new sculpts that make them look really slick. I mean, you can't tell me that vintage Mer-Man is equal to the new one, can you?

WAY too retro for my taste. Give the 2K He-Man toys over these anyday of the week, even if these are far more poseable.

I dunno about the line yet. I got King Greyskull cause they never had one before. Like Keldor, I thought that was neat, but to fork over 20 bucks for trap-jaw, then again for skeletor, evil-lyn and the rest...I don't see that happening. Tri-Clops maybe. :)

The articulation is much better though. Almost marvel legends quality.

I ordered King Grayskull, but I'm holding off on another figure until I get Hordak. We got robbed of one in the 200X series, which had an awesome, awesome sculpt.

Merman is a bit of an exception as they are deliberately ignoring the old figures head and giving him one that matches the old card art. He-Man, Beast Man and Zodac resemble the old figures alot more.

I do think they look nice however. Just not what I was expecting after the 200x line.

I'm planning on buying 2 and switching heads and armor etc. I think I can make the 2000 as articulate as the new one through part switching.

Yeah, MotU 2k was nice, old school character designs? not so much, even with the DCUC articulation. Call me when the 2k versions get put in the line.

Well we did have the MOTU Staction figures which had Hordak and Webstor, amongst others. No articulation but they look awesome nontheless. Just sucks that I never got around to getting some of the latest figures just cause I used to buy them from Tower Records and Suncoast, both of which crapped out last year. I did get the latest AFX exclusive of King Randor (2nd version/repaint) at SDCC. Pretty cool figure.

But these new figures look awesome. I want to see what the packaging looks like for these since I love boxart.

Yeah agreed. I really wanted Hordak! But I will still buy the new figures if:

They're the same scale if they're really 1/12 scale which even the new MOTU was not.

Although the new ones are undeniably better than the 1980s figures, I still think the 2002 line looks better... if I ever manage to complete my TF collection, I think the 2002 MotU + Stactions will be my next target.

I have to say, the original don't even hold a candle to the new ones, other than sentimental value. These look phenomenal, may even pick one or two up!
