He is being made from a Universe Skywarp, painting is still going on with him, and
is taking a while due to the weather not knowing what is doing here.
I guess I painted my Thundercracker at the right time a few weeks ago.

Anyway here are some pics of the painting process.

I have the Red also started. but no pics, as I just started that today,
I still have to go out and get more masking tape to tape off the cockpit
section and the main body support section because I can't get the pins
out of the waist / side pieces and the very top part of the shoulder sections.

    4/2/10....
I have to take time away from Screamer until I can get some red paint....
I ran out and at the moment can't get any....but I have a few updated pics.

There is some rubbing and chipping issues with the white paint, damn.....but
whatever, I learned a lesson about white paint, about paints in general,
and whatever about this one, because he is going on display for me....

The forearms have been painted blue & white but are still drying so they are not pictured
finished, but they are pictured all blue before I painted them.

but next time, it will be much better.

What do you plan to do differently than the Hasbro release of MP Screamer?

nothing really, maybe just slight color differences, mainly the fact that this is a cheaper alternative for me, and I just wanted to do it. the head and face will be more cartoonish
shades of grays though, i'm going for more darker shades of color to be a bit more realistic..
well as realistic as a bright white, red and blue show jet can be..face it Starsream couldn't
hide anywhere except an air show, so I wanted more subdued colors.

    Ebay:
Seeing as how the US Starscream is still at least twice the cost of a Skywarp + paint etc., some folks may just want to complete their seekers set.

Added some new pics...I ran out of Red paint, have to get some more as soon
as I can, and the forearms are still airing out in the shed. All the White & Blue
painting is done though. It may take a while for me to find the right Red and
be able to get it, so it may be a while before I post any updates..

I have the Walmart Masterpiece Starscream (don't like the green starscream from takara) anyway, I am definitely going to repaint it into a more accurate G1 paint scheme (color correctness more or less and the paint actually adds more of a quality look as well). Looks good! Are you sanding and prepping before you paint to be sure to avoid rubs and chips??

No where in my question did I ask "why?" My question was "what are you doing differently", which did attach a presupposition, just not the one you were obviously thinking. Since the opportunity presents itself, if he didn't want a Starscream exactly the way Hasbro released it, he's not bound by that at all.

Really the main thing different is the color scheme & details...

More darker less toonish colors, but still a hybrid of realistic / toon, with no
tailwing stripes the body colored nose cap, like my Thundercracker. But on
Starscream, within all the separation points will be black & silver to note as
with a real jet that if you took it apart, the paint would only be on the outer
skin....and to hide some rubbing issues, so a win win for me....

As for the chipping / rubbing, I sanded well, but the chipping is mostly
occurring on points I couldn't sand well or forgot, like on edges of the inner
wings & the little connector pegs on the wings. I used crappy paint
too...now I know that white paint is not the same as other colors, so I will
only use Tamiya paints for the whites now, and if I could afford the paint I
would use it more exclusively, I also am in need of the money to buy an
    airbrush.

My Thundercracker, has none of the rubbing / chipping issues at all, and I
used the same paint brands I have had much success in the past with. Just
with colors apparently, I never use gloss paint, I paint with satins & mattes,
and use Acrylic clearcoats for the high gloss, and that has never chipped
before, I have not cleared Starscream yet, so I will touch up the points and
clear him later. The only flaw in TC is where I accidentally screwed up the right
intake when putting the long pin back in. Also to not, I will be clearing him with
Acrylic matte finish, a high gloss jet just don't look right.

I have a Universe Ratchet awaiting paint, so I have to get the Tamiya white
    before doing him.
