Its limited to 2010 in the Japanese market. However, its also available to the Chinese market, though not limited to a set number

2010 is limited, but its still probably more than the market will absorb given the price point. Its just not a figure that a lot of people are going to be able to afford. If it is released in the Chinese market as well (in even greater numbers), I'm going to predict that you'll be able to get it on clearence somewhere in 6 months. Just my opinion.

That's F'd up. It's cool that the price will probably drop so more people can get it but they advert. as only 2010 made and each one has a serial number, it's disappointing to get one that doesn't have that. Not that the number makes the toy.

The regular version isn't limited. There's an E-Hobby version coming out later and that's the one that's limited to 2,010 pieces. It probably comes with some extra like a comic, a packaging variation or something of the like.

I didn't remember seeing online stores specifying about different versions when they first listed them but now they have notations that say that there are different versions that are out or will be out. Bummer

This is going to be like the MP-01b (but no one believed me when I posted it way back when). A limited edition run for the Japanese market (bio card, limited to 2010 pieces), and an Asian market run (no bio card, normal run). :)

I guess there's 2010 serial numbered bio cards and not actually 2010 Prime sets made. Fine with me since I didn't buy it for a bio card.

    Toy Hobby Market, not E-hobby...
No Comic as well..... No packaging variant...

Only difference is in Japan u get a seriel number up to 2010.... such as box number 507/2010 in the bio card...
As for other part of the world, u do not have the bio card... Market will flood with it, as long as got demand....

Okay, boy am I glad to read that! I've been tempted to get this, I actually really like the figure (I think the dead grey eyes and ghost trailer put it over the top for me) but it is hard to swallow the price for a mold I already own several times over. And if it is truly limited to 2010 figures, I keep thinking I better jump on it while I can. But hey, if it's not so limited after all, maybe the price will creep down to a more reasonable number.

EDIT: Oh, okay, it's not a package difference or comic, but a serial number and Bio Card? Psssh, even less enticing! Want a bio? Here you go: "This is Optimus Prime. But dead."

OK I'm confused because I have a Bio card with a serial number.
My one bio card says c1 -0357/2010, so who has a serial number and who doesn't then.

Alright, I think I got this issue solved. So it looks like there are two different MP-04S out, and a possible 3rd version. So FreedomGundam, on Cybertron.ca, posted a photo of the numbered bio card he got.

Check out this bio card, from TFW member Masabon, who bought his from Toy Hobby Market in Japan.

    MP ????????????? - ??????????????????????? - Yahoo!???

    "Serial number in Japan: 0369/2010"

So that makes it official. MP04S's run is more than 4020. This number is based on those in Asia, who have gotten MP04S with out bio cards.

Anyways, thanks to Drillbit for finding this out for me. :)

I don't get this "Limited to 2010 pieces" thingy at all. That's like "ALOT" in numbers if you ask me. :redface2:

By comparison, we definitely have more of these as compared to the earlier e-Hobby Reissues (G1) that took place many years back.

I can vividly remember that those Reissues were like 800 to 1,000 pieces released worldwide & the Makers weren't even pulling out cr*ps like "Asian Edition" etc back in those days.

    Sets me thinking real hard:

Just how EXCLUSIVE are EXCLUSIVES these days??? :rolleyes2

If you read carefully it says 2010 pieces "in Japan" on the webpage. Like I said in another thread TakaraTomy Japan deals with the local market ONLY.
TakaraTomy Asia deals with Asia market excluding Japan. Although they are the same company they don't cross the market zone in any direction. That is why you might have a comic book coming with the Japan version of that toy and Asia version doesn't. It is all depends on publishing restrictions in Japan.
2010 pieces for Japan market doesn't include any numbers for other locations. They can have 2010 pieces for entire Asia market, 2010 pieces for UK, and 2010 pieces for Australia if they want to "share".

One thing to keep in mind that TakaraTomy supplies their products to Hasbro Asia. That doesn't mean Hasbro Asia will share their products with Hasbro US, UK, or Australia.
