Hadn't really noticed before I took the photos. In hand they're not that noticeable really, but yeah, shouldn't have been there, those imperfections.

Yes 17+ can hold his gun, but not straight. I actually would like to see pictures of anyone’s that actually can hold it straight. Same issue present on the mould since MP-19.




I can understand why his arm joint is black among the white, but the movie logo is pretty lame. Gonna see if I can fix it, it does look great to have the insignia at this size.

This is my first + release where I still kept the original. Same feeling as 12+, not revolutionary, but a welcome change.

The lower legs were very tight when folding them open. A screw even popped out. Just be very gentle and everything should be fine.

17+’s white paint is a little less glossy than 17’s. Looks nice. The black paint is identical.

The forearms aren’t painted, the inner feet are which is a nice touch. The blue headlights look great.

 

Paint looks really sloppy on these close-up shots. Also, movie logo is bleh.

I really wanted to like this release, and I could put up with things like the movie logo. It's the unpainted cannons (even though they wouldn't be used), unpainted mirrors, the unpainted gun barrel that turned me off of this release, and this same ugly off white plastic being used for the hands. It stands out even more when you look at and consider the reveal pictures didn't have these unpainted bits. It just seems like a very lackluster MP-**+ release compared to the likes of MP-12+ and MP-14+.

This one even makes me a little worried for releases like MP-20+, and MP-29+.

Is the gun missing a screw? There is a noticeable gap down the length of the gun.

 

The hands actually look fine in person. I compared them with my MP-17 (I wanted to swap over his hands since they can actually hold his gun) and my og's are even more yellow/cream. I guess that's UV ageing for ya.

In hand he feels very nice, I like the semi-gloss finish of the white paint (I wonder if this is what people were raving about for 14+'s paint). He's super solid too. His knees are really tight (which is the loosest part on my MP-17 after owning him almost 5 years).

I wouldn't worry about 29+ since there isn't a lot they can mess up, really.

I'd say that Takara will be paying a closer eye on 20+ since he's a mainline release. I expect him to have the painted shoulders as well as an all-over paint job, since they went the extra mile to give 17+ a bit more paint on his inner feet.

Hopefully the cock up with the movie insignia will make TT pay more attention in the future. I think I will try to fix it, it's a matter of straightening out his upper eye.

There is no screw by design in this gun, although I wonder if the screw we saw in the shots with MP-42 was to fix some kind of issue that has arisen recently with assembly. Perhaps that's why they opted not to paint the barrel of the gun.


One thing I will say is the chrome on these launchers is solid. Really nice to see the chrome being so generously applied now. My Amazon exclusive launchers were a little flaky, but since Inferno the chrome has been nice and thick.

 

CM always coming through with ebay sellers. I have bad experience with MP on ebay as you're aware but since you say this seller is legitimate then I will definitely wait for the next flash sale to get MP-17+ since you haven't steered me wrong yet regarding ebay seller

I'd like to try to wipe the insignia off with rubbing alcohol and put a cartoon one on. I was able to do this easily enough on the original MP-17 when I put the symbol on his right side to be like the toy, but I'm a little apprehensive about trying it again.

 

Autobase Aichi mentioned it on their blog too, some solace that I’m not the only one nerdy enough to notice!

When I removed the tampos from Artfire I did it with a hard pink eraser. Those tampos were on top of chrome, and they came off just fine without any damage to the chrome underneath. I’m gonna try the same method for my MP-17, but I think for 17+ I’ll just try to remove the tiny bit of extra red on his upper eye ridge. I’d rather not have stickers on my cartoon MPs where possible.

I got mine earlier this week, opened him up today and yeah - horrible paint job. Just all around sloppy, paint splotches and schmutz everywhere. Most CHUG's I own have cleaner paint - pretty disappointing for a "Masterpiece".

The mold is cool and I like the color scheme they chose, but the paint application is poor all around. And the weird white plastic that is thrown against the actual white paint is very noticeable in a bad way too.

I didn’t pay too much for him thankfully, but if I knew what I would be receiving I would’ve passed on this release.
