So I got into G1 around summer/fall of last year. One character I really wanted to get the best representation of was obviously Optimus Prime. I'm thinking of the masterpiece.

I'm not yet old enough to get a job so I don't have much cash, and I don't usually want to spend too much on tfs. Therefore, the takara ones are for the most part out of my budget. Mostly I'm thinking of the US releases which narrow my choices to

    20th anniversary Prime

    20th Anniversary DVD Prime

    Mp-10 US release

I'm mostly thinking 20th anniversary Prime as I mosly care about die cast, and I like its size.

Mp-10 seems pretty awesomely accurate, and I dig the trailer.

So ccan someone tell me each ones price (except for Mp-10 as it isn't out) and if its worth it. Unfortunately I passed up 20th DVD PRime at NJCC for $40. I asked the dude about it and I was gonna buy it, but a person came out of nowhere and said he's gonna take it. :/ haha!

Ya so I'd appreciate hearing your recommendations!

    thanks!

Owning all of the above accept of course the US release of MP10, I'm gonna say wait on the US release of MP10. It is to me the be all end all of Prime. For what you would pay now for an older Prime, you'd might as well wait and get more bang for you buck on the new version. Essentially the only thing you'd be missing out on is the mini Megatron.

The guesses say the MP-10 should be roughly $100

For a Mint or Near Mint 20th Anniversary 100% complete your gonna spend at least $50 anywhere you go and that's on the low end. MP-01 will be at least $100.

So if you don't have $100 then go the Commemorative 20th Anniversary G1 Re-issue.

Wait for the TRU exclusive Optimus. It WILL be the easiest version to get a hold of because you'll be able to get it from your local TRU, and is a complete package due to having the trailer and Roller AND having the smokestacks left intact. The 20th Anniversary and 20th Anni DVD Edition Primes have had their 'stacks snipped right down to the shoulder, unless you happen to get lucky and someone's selling theirs that they already replaced the stock stacks for full length ones. (and in that case, they may be asking more for it) Plus, Megatron aside (until they get around to doing a V2.0 of him, which almost certainly won't be sold by Hasbro for obvious reasons) if you pick up or have some of the other Masterpiece figures, the new Optimus will fit in better.

If you're worried about price, then I'd advise you to start saving now.

I've got the MP-1 and MP-10 Prime molds, and I agree with the earlier poster - wait for the Hasbro version of MP-10. It is freaking awesome. Even if it priced at $100-125, it is still cheaper by HALF than the Takara version, and the design is incredible. It is the most anime accurate representation of Optimus to date. Plus the transformations, poseability, and the play value are outstanding. It may be the single coolest TF toy in my collection right now.

He should be out by around then. The easiest way to know when he'll be out in Toys 'R' Us is to stay tuned to the news on TFW.

Wait for mp 10. Mp 01 might have more metal but die cast is a double edge sword because it chips over time and mp 01 is more of a statue. It to big and heavy to enjoy it as a figure.

I agree, MP 10 will be minty fresh and not too pricey compared to other MP primes. Or you could buy a loose MP 01 or 20th anniversary prime if you can find one for a gd price that is.
