Japanese online retailer Rakuten have put up their pre-order page for the upcoming MP-9 Rodimus Convoy figure, revealing the release date and price of the figure.

    Release date: End January 2011

Suggested Retail Price: 16,800円 before tax / 17,640円 after tax (196 USD or 212 USD based on current exchange rates)

While the exact date is not given, it will most likely be on Jan 29, going by TakaraTomy's trend of releasing new figures on Saturdays.

UPDATE: Rakuten have updated their pre-order page with official images.

Ouch, I was hoping it would at least stay under $200... I'll have to see what the funds look like after all of these other 2010 figures coming up...

I'm a tiny bit disappointed that the release date is in Jan 2011. Was hoping that it would be in time for the end of 2010. Well, more time to save I guess.

Not too concerned about the price at this point. The guestimated numbers have been around $200 so this isn't really a surprise. Fortunately I managed to get a good pre-order price confirmed. :)

Huh. I just pre-ordered this @ 199.99 from BBTS. Let's see if they keep the Preorders at the original price...

It's a wee bit under retail at HLJ:
    MP09 Rodimus Convoy

With the early bird discount it comes to around $190. A few things to consider though: The Yen could do anything by the time this toy is released, so when the time comes to pay at the end of January that price will most likely be different. Also that doesn't include shipping. Weather it's SAL, EMS or FedEx, the shipping will push the total cost well over $200.

If BBTS keeps their price at $199 they could actually end up being a bit cheaper than ordering from some overseas stores. Their listing has now been updated with this note:
NOTE - This item has officially been announced, and the price is listed at $199.99.

Personally I'm waiting to see what AmiAmi's price is before cancelling my BBTS order.

Rakuten have it on 32% off or something atm. Works out at 11995 yen including tax. That's only £93. Shipping is £29 and then an additional £19 for each one I add after that I can figure out anyway... Hmmm thinking a group uk buy might be beneficial here

$212 is about £136. If it ends up being cheaper than that, I'll most likely bite but at the moment it's a tad too high especially without taking shipping into factor.

That's just around what I though the price would be. As for the January release, I'm not in a hurry. There is just a lot of stuff on the TF list to get and besides this Yamato Macross SDF-1 is killing me $400 bucks damn it.... just one Macross for me, and two Rodimus Convoy pre-ordered. I can live with that!

With such a high price, even though Hasbro's prices are a lot lower for Masterpiece figures, I'm thinking this may price out the trailer on their release. Especially with the size of the beast. I'm thinking it would put him at at least $100, if not $20 or so more. Which is too expensive for a non-live action movie collector oriented Transformer item in the US.

Well, I'll keep 1 preorder then get another one after tax refund season. That one will be my Shattered Glass Rodimus :)

US will get it without the trailer, and possibly with a targetmaster. The news was frontpaged.

Yes it was on the front page but it's a rumor at this point and not confirmed. I'm definitely thinking it won't have a trailer, and if it comes with Firebolt that will be awesome (and will make sense when you compare the various Grimlock Masterpiece releases between Hasbro & TakaraTomy).

There are a lot of people out there who doubt that rumor though. With this price I'm thinking it's all but confirmed at this point.

    Randy
