He looks out of scale and way too cartoon-based.

    <- First! :)

I like inferno, but allready looks like dealing with shockwave syndrome: being too small.

I'll stick with better 3rd party stuff.

Another MP I most likely won't buy.

I may as well just make my MP collection Decepticons only because those are the only ones I find myself buying.

If this turns out to be true, I hope MMC and XTB cancel their Infernos (even though I really like Backdraft and have him paid for). Because they have enough projects I want them to finish already, and them cancelling their Infernos will free up some space. Don't need four options for Inferno to be honest.

XTB, get your damn Reflector out already :rolleyes2

That was an April Fool's joke. It was pretty obvious that Astrotrain was fake, though.

I was still on hold for all the 3rd party Inferno's, so this is a nice surprise. Guess Artfire, Grapple, and Hauler will be coming as well...sweet!

They are beholden to Mitsubishi if they choose to make him look like G1. Inferno was based on the Mitsubishi Fuso F-series Fire truck. They could alter him like they did with Prime, but he is based in an actual vehicle that would require licensing.

Far too late for mmc to cancel, the release of theirs is pretty soon so it must already be in production. Plus cancelling now would mean returning the money paid by etailers and them in turn having to cancel orders and return customers pre order money.

    If this is true....

    Goodbye MMC Backdraft, hello Inferno.

Glad it's the real Inferno and not the BW version, now I'm 100% sure I'm going to get that new Red Alert. So glad this is coming out as I'm really not fond of paying third party prices for tier two/three autobot cars.

    Bring on Grapple!

Bah, every S2 and non G1 character in the MP line means the completion date for a full S1 and Movie cast gets pushed back by another ~6 months.

He's quite a large bot for one I'm not that fussed over.

Should be quite an easy transformation - the G1 is quite close to the cartoon image. One thing I never liked with the G1 toy was how his head detached from his body. Would be nice if instead the head collapsed into the cab and the ladder section just wrapped around the head in bot mode. Would avoid any "floating head" images and avoid the issue of hiding the head in vehicle mode.

The million dollar question is: Full on cartoon styled or realistic alt mode ?

I'm guessing Inferno will be the same size as Ironhide scale-wise. I wonder if they got the license from Mitsubishi...

Wow. I've been discussing with myself which Masterpieces I'd like to see come out. Hound, Trailbreaker/Hoist, and Inferno/Grapple were my picks. Hopefully this rumor is true. I'd love to see what Takara could do with it.

I might be wrong but it looks bigger than Ironhide in relation To Red. If it isn't a licenced Fuso then the rage over the cartoon Red Alert moving away from real world cars will seem like nothing.

Scale chart (well, the one the Metroplex on it) agrees with you there. Top of cab is total height of Red Alert.

I'm hoping it's just an out of scale teaser image. I'd hope they don't scale him too big just so that we can recreate that exact scene in the picture.

Guys like Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Hound should be licensed, but I'm completely ok with them going the generic route here like they did with Optimus.

    This is mind blowing.
