I haven't had a new MP in the past couple of months. Now I'll get two on the same day, thanks to Cheetor being delayed.
I'll have three MPs shipping from HLJ ( 1 Grapple and 2 Cheetors).
As happy as that makes me, I'm glad I have nothing preordered for March.
Sweet. I'm looking forward to this guy more than Inferno!
I cant wait for this guy. I have not had a Masterpiece figure since MP30, and the MP closet is gathering dust since I dont have to move any figures. This will give me a chance to dust them off and maybe even transform a few of them.
Same here but also Primal and Computron!
I've got the MT versions but even as plain as these are (Inferno more so) they just ooze the character from the cartoon. I like they don't have the super skinny leg thing going on either (Megatron / Shockwave). They're a must buy for me.
I think the character and personality the officials bring out is what does it for me vs. the 3P versions. Would I have liked more detailing in both modes? Of course. But these guys seem to have a soul that brings them to life.
THIS! THIS! THIS! Is what TT does that the majority of third parties can't seem to do, bring out in their figures, the soul of the characters. When I look at a TT take on a character, I often go; "That is character x!" whereas when I see a third party take on a character I often go; "That's a nice take on character x!"
TT just has that x-factor, they know how to capture all those subtleties and unique traits in proportions in both robot and alt-modes and face-sculpts as well, something that most third parties miss...no matter how much die-cast or unnecessary detailing they put in their figures.
Can't wait to add this guy to my collection!
I agree wholeheartedly with the above posts.
Capturing the essence of the character, so that you can almost hear their voices when you look at them - that's what TT are the undeniable masters of.
I won't deny that I get a little tired of reading some of the nastier comments that are made about the latest MPs - it's a big part of the reason I'm staying out of the 3P section at the moment, with the exception of a few threads about MMC Reformatted products.
I understand what others would like to see, but there are plenty of alternatives out there for them.
When this month does this drop again?
3 more weeks o yeah! bring on grapple and cheetor
I agree so much with these posts. I love 3rd party as well, but for a guy who wants the 'toon look for MPs, TT just gets it done. Definitely with the face sculpts. That's something Fanstoys just can't get right and it's held me back from getting their stuff.
CHUG is another story.
But in this case; MP Grapple, using Inferno as a gauge, there's no comparison that TT is the one for me.
I feel the 3P bring the toy to life, and while I played with them as a kid and have great nostalgia for them, I don't want the toys brought to life, I want the toon characters brought to life as toys, and I feel from MP22 on, that has been happening. While the previous have struck a good balance in toy and toon, I much prefer the newer style in bringing the true essence of the character I watched on screen to life. if I want a G1 looking toy / version of the character, I'll buy an original, that's just my opinion on it.
That's why I don't care for Gun Dog vs Willis, Willis looks old era MP with a more toon leaning, no doubt Takara will go full on toon with a real Jeep skin...and that is what I want.
Same but, one thing i felt when i saw the vehicle mode of inferno, i thought it looked like exactly the g1 toy.
Exactly my thoughts. Without make less the 3P.
TT for me, brings a fresh style that transformers NEEDED, some needs to admit that they bring to life the figures, they feel with soul, and no lifeless, just with ton of diecast blocks for display.
Even if you don't know the characters, only to see these figures you can see their personality.
Amazon.jp lists him as 2/25 release as well.
They still border on looking a little too cartoony for me but then for the most part I like the stoic faces. In fact, this to me is still one of the most perfect face-sculpts TT have done and I miss the days of silver instead of grey being used for the face itself.
