Will do, it never bothered me before, but for some reason I just feel the need to better differentiate krank from stax, and I now feel my skill level is appropriate to attempt this kind of build since completion of my Voyager classics/foc/idw Scorponok

Any idea where to get the oversize Pipes KO for cheap in 2017? Or where to look as I'm not even sure who makes it or what the name of it is.

Anyone else find it ironic that the KO has Overlord written on it considering that's who killed Pipes in MTMTE?

Great custom. Always loved Pipes. My brother got him when we were kids and he mysteriously disappeared within a week.
Back in 99 I picked one up very cheaply when I saw it in a collector's shop. I wasn't even collecting at the time.

Forget Code of the Hero, Pipes' death was far more moving and he died a hero.

    Once again, great custom.

So the oversize is around $100 now, don't wanna spend that! I've been out of the TF loop for a while... anything similar, for around say $20?

I can't really say without looking, I'm out of the ko loop myself after I stopped kitbashing.

One thing I've seriously thought about is using a Cubex Huff cab to replace the terrible design of the upcoming Badcube Pipes cab, but that will depend how compatible they are in size/shape (or if any other company comes along with a better MP Pipes).

BTW thanks for all the comments on my custom folks, it was nice to be reminded of this project :thumb

OK, so what's up with these guys? Anyone order from tf-toy.com?

    G1 Minibots Oversized Pipes |G1_Minibots_Oversized_Pipes| :
G1 Minibots Oversized Set of 2 Convoy (Clear) - Transformers Beast Wars (Japan) [sirtoy677] :
G1 Minibots Oversized Set of 4 Autobot Ratchet - Transformers Robot Heroes [sirtoy343] :

All I want is Pipes. What's up with this crazy pricing. $79.00 for just him. 89.00 for him with 1 friend, $89.00 for him with 3 friends. Obviously, the set of 4 would be the best deal. I guess I can re sell the other three...

Well, if I order the set of 4, does anyone want oversize Brawn, Windcharger, or Gears for 20 bucks a piece?

I think I might do something just like that. Badcube's Piper is probably about 90% the same as your awesome custom. The only thing wrong is the shape of the front of the cab. I think, since I don't have either of the mini trucks yet, the upcoming Fans Toys Huffer looks like he captures the best aspects of both of the Huff figures. So I think he'll be my Huffer. And Badcube's Piper as Pipes, but with a cab mod. I wonder if someone can 3D print a duplicate of at least the top half of Huff 1.0 (Cubex) that can be painted up and attached to Piper? I think that would be pretty close to your custom with a lot less effort. Side note: looks like Fans Toys Huffer can pull MP44's trailer, I wonder if Piper can be made to do the same?

Yeah I've got FT's Huffer preordered, I think he'll replace Cubex Huff for me (I still like him, but he's a little loose these days and covered in paint chips, and FT's aesthetic fits the recent MP style better).

I never did buy a 3rd party Pipes. Hopefully FT will get round to him soon! Hasbro's Pipes design looks pretty good too, if not MP scale.

Well, other than the Stax you used for this custom, of course. And if you still have him, that's all you need, as he's perfect.

Any idea how I could possibly get a 3D printed copy of Cubex's cab? Would you mind measuring the dimensions, including the incline of the front? Maybe then I can find someone who can print me a copy to use when I get Piper?

I wonder if there are any cheap junker/unwanted Cubex Huff's out there? That would probably be easiest as you'd just need to repaint the orange parts.

3D printing wouldn't give you the clear windows and flipping headlights etc, but if you do go that route, these pics may help:
